Extended Cut - Achieve It Yourself! - Do I Have to Kill Sora? - S5 #7

Comments

I haven't watched the episode yet but I would never blame the submitter. Damiani should feel free to change the parameters or give extra advice to make things go smoother. We live and learn.

Zorgla

As the person who created this achievement, I feel honor bound to explain myself on this one (No spoiling the episode if anyone reading hasn't seen it yet). First - Because I own few Switch games, I defaulted to my current favorite of the bunch: Thus why it's Smash. Second - I've always tried to think of something tied to doing something with characters that all are linked together with a theme (Hence something to do with Sephiroth, Cloud, and Sora together). Third - Because achievement/trophy hunting can be a pain, I really wanted to stress something that gives everyone the flexibility to cheese the parameters of the achievement by messing with the settings (Like infinite time-limit, setting Sephiroth with 999 HP (Not stamina, which is what everyone went with oddly) while Cloud and Sora are at 50 HP with 99 Stock for everyone, having only the ball on at High frequency, etc.), which is why I stated "any settings" in the description. Fourth - I went with the 10 minute time limit because I thought when submitting the achievement, all achievements for the show needed to follow that constraint. In retrospect, this is the one variable I regret having (especially considering I didn't take into account the time limit would be tracked going back and adjusting settings and NOT completely in gameplay. When I created this achievement, I felt like everyone would find the min/max in the settings as I outlined above) but after watching the episode, I ultimately feel it's mandatory to prevent everyone trying this single achievement all day. Fifth - I wanted both Sora and Cloud to be Level 9 because I thought being hit by max level characters by the most aggro'd enemies would charge the meter the fastest. Sixth - One of the follies of this achievement in retrospect is I figured the tip Damiani gave at the end of the episode was common knowledge: triggering the final smash while hanging out at the edge of the stage/screen (Dependent on stage) is the easiest way to ensure KOs (hence if characters are stunned, asleep, etc., and NOT launched, they would still fall to their deaths. This goes to show that, by playing Smash alone and with no friends, I had no way to get feedback on this from others since I did this by myself. Seventh - I left map choice completely up to the participants because most stages have the drop off into nothingness or going off-screen is an insta-kill (Again why jumping around the edges of the screen was the best). Honestly, I was delightfully shocked my achievement was picked, but in-so-doing I brought myself despair after watching the first two teams. Only in the end was I gratified and avoided great shame. While I'm sure the goal of this show is to provide some consternation and frustration with the inherit challenges provided, I DO apologize to the Allies it gave such immense aggravation (more than I expected), especially to Damiani in particular for the unforeseen rule set irritations as demonstrated with the first team. At the end of the day, I still thank you all for giving this a go (and I knew it was possible because I tested it before submitting, but its been months), and I promise to submit something that isn't as tough next time (if there is a next time). Thanks for reading.
