Love & Respect for Nov 22nd Podcast
Added 2023-11-19 00:36:33 +0000 UTCGreetings, I'm a little early this week because Thanksgiving is coming up here in the US. So, our schedule is a bit different next week. There will be no group stream, and we'll be shooting the podcast on Tuesday, shortly after Frame Trap. In addition to the usual headlines, we'll also be picking this year's "turkeys" in the video game industry. So if you have anything you want to add to the list, go ahead and throw them in too.
Type your question, topic, or game in the comments below. Be sure to include your preferred name, if it's different from what's listed on your Patreon profile. Please submit your entries by Monday at 5:00 PM.
If your entry is not selected, feel free to submit it again the following week. We appreciate your support and are grateful for each and every submission, if we're able to include them in the podcast or not.

2023-11-21 09:17:18 +0000 UTCYO! This is just a fun suggestion, not a L&R Entry: Give Blood a RUFUS button for Robomiani! If you're able to set up a timer that counts down on Damiani's side to match the timing of Rufus' song, Blood can activate Rufus and press the countdown button at the same time. That should eliminate the inherent lag on Damiani's end. Not sure if y'all were figuring this out or had suggestions already, but I felt like a light-bulb popped off over my head! Cheers.

2023-11-20 13:52:37 +0000 UTCHey Allies. Last year I sent a "Biggest Turkey" submission for DDR, and while I know you all aren't rhythm game players, I know you love talking about scummy monetization practices, so I'm back again to dunk on Konami! The latest event is called "Babylon's Galaxy." When you play normally, you fill up a meter that can unlock Extra Stage that is based on how well you play. Currently, in addition to this you fill up a separate gauge that can take up to 3 plays to access a separate set of songs to unlock on Extra Stage, but has a more strict lifebar called Flare that goes down if you step anything worse than a Perfect and doesn't recover. Normally on Extra Stage, it's 4 misses and you're out, but in this mode it's possible to simply fail out if you don't score well enough. You start off on Flare Level 5 and on subsequent attempts it levels down and becomes easier. After clearing the first song, you gain access to two additional songs. When you clear those, you earn two more, and after that one more. Once all six songs on all difficulties have been cleared, you gain access to more difficult charts for the final three songs, plus the Flare level starts at 9! It does go down on subsequent attempts still. Keep in mind...each of these attempts essentially costs 3 credits. You can pay for 3 credits up front to gain access to it without having to grind it, but come on, we know what Konami is doing. When you clear all three of these Challenge charts, you unlock Encore Extra Stage, which is the game's Boss Song. The Flare Level for this is called "Flare EX," which has its lifebar go down if you get Perfects or worse. That means, in theory, one could fail it while achieving a Full Perfect Combo (all inputs within 2 frame windows). This DOES NOT go down on subsequent attempts. When you fail the song, and you WILL fail it, you have to go back and clear the three Challenge charts *again* in order to get another attempt, meaning each attempt costs *9 CREDITS* to try. As of this writing it has not been cleared yet, but a Korean player by the handle FEFEMZ has been streaming his attempts to do it. If it weren't for YouTube donations he'd go broke! Also, just for fun, or spite, one of the songs here is aptly named “Sisyphus,” the Greek myth of a man constantly rolling a boulder up a mountain only for it to roll all the way back down. The song even chants “It’s rolling down!” On the plus side, paying the 3 credits up front allows you to unlock other content that's already been released in one play instead of the usual four plays, which is good for US players that have to catch up on over a year's worth of content, most of which are bangers. But considering Konami has locked arcade content behind $180 home soft pads before, I don't think this was done out of kindness.

2023-11-20 13:39:40 +0000 UTCHey Allies, Since it's Thanksgiving, what are your favorite dishes you can't wait to consume during this holiday? Mashed potatoes? Pumpkin pie?Stuffing? Turkey? Or something that isn't that traditional for the holiday you love? And speaking of food, and blood's topic of biggest turkeys, besides the low hanging fruit of Red fall and gollum, how about that Unity debacle? E3's continued slow death. Or even the situation going on at Embracer? Enjoy your holiday everyone! Hope you have a blessed time!

2023-11-20 00:28:31 +0000 UTCHi Allies, Here are a few spicy but divisive turkeys ready for oven-roasting and carving-they're not based on industry happenings and are game-specific, but I still think they count. First up is Assassin's Creed: Mirage; now I know that Huber thought it was a really good Assassin's Creed game, and I see where he's coming from with the sense of danger as Baghdad citizens are quick to cry wolf everytime you're seen snooping around on the ground. However, Baisim is a forgettable protagonist and seems like a disgruntled fanboy at the beginning of the game. I don't personally see why Mirage is great at all, unless simply being a streamlined Assassin's Creed with an emphasis on stealth is all you need to pass muster. Next up is yet another controversial turkey and a game Huber really likes and it's Mortal Kombat 1. Yes it's a good fighting game that looks gorily great, but there's no reason at all why this entry should be dubbed Mortal Kombat 1, and Invasion mode is nothing but an arduous grind that doesn't cease with anemic adversaries who are merely rank and file. Mortal Kombat X is way better.

2023-11-19 21:12:54 +0000 UTCHi Allies, With the recent news that Yoko Taro's next project with Square Enix won't be Nier related, do you guys think SE has missed its chance to turn Nier into a bigger gaming franchise? They have done a lot of collaborations with other Gacha mobile games and released a remaster of Nier Replicant, but none of these projects were able to build upon the success of Automata. Despite Nier seemingly being everywhere, it does seem like the franchise has lost a lot of its steam without a new big game. And with this recent news, it seems like such new game is not coming out anytime soon either. What do you guys think? Did SE lose its chance to turn Nier into a big gaming franchise? Thank you for picking my submission if you do. Love & Respect Cheers

2023-11-19 16:15:38 +0000 UTCHappy Holidays! Which RPG are you most thankful for? I’m thankful for Mario RPG. Mario RPG was the first RPG I ever played. Some years later, I remember renting a game called Tobal No. 1. What was special about Tobal No 1? It came with a demo of FF7. I almost didn’t even try the demo, but Tobal No 1 was so boring, I decided to try this FF7 game that I’ve been reading so much about. I booted it up and I thought “hey, this is just like Mario RPG.” That opened the floodgates for Suikoden, Wild Arms, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, you name it. But without Mario RPG, idk if I would have discovered those great RPGs. So Im thankful for Mario RPG.

2023-11-19 04:49:45 +0000 UTCHello everyone, With this being a truncated week, I was curious what, if anything, you'll prioritize for your gaming in between catching up with family, stuffing yourself with homecooked meals, and enjoying well earned time off. Thanks for taking this question if you do, stay Easy fellow Allies, and Happy Thanksgiving!

2023-11-19 01:27:25 +0000 UTCHello Allies, I want to talk about one of my favorite game/anime franchises of all time, Fate/Stay Night. I've been a big for of the series for many years, playing alot of the games and and watching alot of the anime series. However, one thing I haven't done is playing the original visual novel of Fate/Stay Night. To me it seems like such a daungting task to play it now, with how big it is. I'd love to play it if they remastered it and even remade it like they did with Tsukihime. My questions is this, what are some franchise you are fans of that you got into side games or projects, but maybe haven't gone back to play what it was based off of? Love and respect.
