WIP Wednesday!

I am putting together some stuff for extended KFOR use-- above: I am working on a background piece that will be useful over and over again, the "seahut". Our buildings are called Seahuts, and there are endless rows of them here at Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo. And, yes, they all pretty much look the same, so once I've drawn one seahut I can use it over and over again! It's like creating a set for a TV show, such as the typical family living room seen over and over again in iconic shows like "All In The Family" or "Married With Children", and so on.

Remember how I showed you the scanned pencil images before, and said I was unhappy with the quality of the scanner I was working with? I am going to try to make a character set using stock photos, mostly just to make sure I maintain proper proportions. I took a stock internet photo of "two women walking" and made outlines for them so I could portray Juni and Emma walking and talking.

I started with the blue lines to get general, vague outlines, then went over the blue lines with more solid black lines.

WOrk in progress; I realized I still missed a few proportions like waist placement and arm length and such. I don't follow the image exactly because I don't want to resort to tracing; I want to keep them loose enough that they can be interpreted as my creations.

Fixed up a bit and will soon be ready for inking. I actually find that this process, while it creates well-proportioned people, actually takes me much longer and I feel constrained by the original models. I prefer the old way, so I may just have to tinker with scanner setting to get what I really want.

A couple more images for the comic. I will keep experimenting!

Until later!
