WIP Wednesday!

And so, it begins...

...or in this case, ends. I've heard that "Every beginning is the start of an end," and so it shall soon be with my time here in sunny, downtown Kosovo (actually, as I write this, it is anything but sunny, but that's beside the point.

I have begun the final comics that I will work on in Kosovo. By the time these post to the main site, I will either be all the way home, or at least in Texas, getting ready to demobilize. However, this isn't the end of the KFOR-oriented comics and certainly not the end of BOHICA Blues; this is just me preparing to shift gears back to regular comics once again.

I have here the final three comics, not yet done but in varying stages of work. I'll share all three WIPs that I have so far!

Above: in the upcoming episode "The More Things Change", we see some alarming news being delivered. In the very first image I showed the full page of pencils, with the bottom panel being a little more sanguine. What does it mean? You'll have to wait! This one will probably come out around May 20th, I believe.

Below: the next episode--

The first episode for June is "The Tell", and I can't show the whole thing because the last panel has a little bit of spoiler potential. Not much, but... just enough.

When possible I like to draw up three or more comics at once, scan them in, and then do all the preliminary work at one time-- so all the inking, clean-up, etc. I get into a sort of creative "zone" and I can just start flying through the process much quicker.

Doing comics one-at-a-time means that the moment I am finished with a comic --the coloring shading, highlights, dialogue, etc-- I immediately need to start the next one.

On the other hand, if I've gotten part of it done, then when I circle back to it to add stuff later (like when I eventually come back to this one to color it) then I feel like I am much further along and it is psychologically easier to tackle it.

Obviously, this one takes place in the chow hall, a common setting for a lot of my military comics since that's when we all have time out sit and talk, gossip, cross-level information, and catch up.

The final comic is Looks Being Deceiving" and this one will probably be out around June 10th, and by this time I will be in Texas for certain, and possibly even close to going home. I have not yet had time to apply any of the inks, but I will tackle it soon.

So I am busy and productive, and trying to stay ahead of my upcoming re-deployment schedule, which is going to keep me super busy. But I'll keep everyone posted on progress as it happens, and soon you should all start seeing the colored versions of these hitting soon.

Until then!
