WIP Wednesday (Star Wars Fanart)

I am way, waaayyy ahead of schedule on BOHICA Blues (how often does that happen?) and I have already posted everything through the end of August. I could keep making comics but I would end up so far ahead of schedule here that the lag time before member sneak peeks and posted publication would be ridiculously ahead of schedule... or I could post something else entirely!

So I am sharing some more Star Wars fan art of the Jedi characters in my story over at Spacebattles.com

So the very top image was the initial line model I got from a photo-reference book with some models posing with things like swords, firearms, etc. I found one I liked for Arik Whitesun, one of the Jedi Masters of the order. The books are part of Image Comics "People and Poses" and they have one for male models of different age groups, one for female models, and one for general use. I found a male model that was in his 40s-50s for Arik Whitesun, who has been around awhile and seen a few years since he was a 19-year-old Padawan.

As usual, I had a character in mind when I designed him, and that character was Sawyer from the TV show "LOST", which was a very popular psychological suspense/mystery series that captured the imagination of a lot of people... until they completely screwed the pooch on the final season, but that's another rant. And again, my image for him wasn't Josh Holloway, the actor who played Sawyer, but the character of Sawyer himself.

I moved the facial features around a little bit, added some hair, and a "Young Obi-wan Kenobi" style beard to him that wasn't as well groomed. I imagined him as sort of a reflection of the younger Obi-Wan from the Ewan MacGregor portrayals in the prequels. I also modeled his clothing on the character of Jedi Master Sol from "The Acolyte" series, which I have watched some of.

I think that "The Acolyte" was potentially a good rough draft of a script that could have been really good if they'd taken time to address a few issues that they hurried past, but it was like they had to just "film with what we have" in order to meet a contract deadline or something. It needed some polish. But regardless, given the type of person that Arik Whitesun is in the story, wearing clothes that reflect the Old Republic Jedi Order seemed appropriate. He wants to reform the Jedi from a warfighting/special ops force into a more traditional Jedi organization.

The blue stripe reflects the heritage of their Chapter's original founding member, the blue-skinned twi'lek woman, Shayyla-Sa'Suressi. All of the Sovereign Alliance Chapter members of the Entente Jedi Order have a blue stripe of some sort on their clothing to reflect Master Shayyla.

Until next time!
