Solving the Mystery of World of Kanako

World of Kanako is a Japanese thriller filled with Biblical symbolism - in fact, its first scene is a dualistic sequence that contrasts a statue of the Virgin Mary under a gentle rain of snow - which symbolizes purity - with a rave party, which, as we'll see in the movie, represents hell itself; the partygoers lose their innocence amidst the drug-fueled chaos.

Kanako is Lilith/Eve, Adam’s wife who was corrupted by the serpent. On a more literal level, she was seduced by the corrupt cop who runs the underworld operations - detective Asai, who plays the role of the serpent, Satan. And just as she was tempted and corrupted by Asai, she goes on to tempt and corrupt others, perpetuating the cycle of corruption.

Note the one-eye symbolism.

Asai mocks everything; he sees reality as a game, a simulacrum which he lords over. He is the one who passed on to Kanako the habit of laughing at any and every situation - a trait Kanako later passes on to her second boyfriend, whom she deceives and psychologically tortures, and who is ultimately murdered by Asai after being lured to the “Eden Hotel” (an obvious reference to the Garden of Eden, where the serpent appeared, tempted Eve, and she, in turn, tempted Adam - mirroring the events that unfold at the film’s climax).

Asai is constantly sucking on a lollipop - a reference to the Fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

The movie is not subtle about the hotel being a twisted mirror of the Garden of Eden.

The protagonist (Koji, whose name means “happiness, peace, work, and leader”) is akin to the Old Testament God - a vengeful and violent God, jealous and punitive, who does not seek to redeem his own daughter (Eve, and by extension, humanity) as Christ would, but to kill her for her sin. A Demiurge who embodies the chaotic mixture of good and evil. Detective Aikawa is both a parallel and a foil of Koji - he is, however, pure evil; which is why the two clash at the end of the film, but Koji comes out on top.

The blood spilled during their duel spread across the floor, forming two crimson wings.

There is also a lot of symbolism related to MKULTRA. The parties where minors are drugged and abused are organized by Asai, the underworld leader, who acts as a Japanese Epstein. Asai's mafia also use the parties as honeypots; they collect damning material to blackmail minors into submission. In the scenes showing these parties, various butterfly images appear (a symbol of Monarch Programming, the process used in brainwashing victims to turn them into sex slaves), and the minors are coerced into taking LSD - the drug used by the CIA in their mind-control experiments.

One of the characters who was a victim of MKULTRA shaves and bleaches her hair in a humiliation, depersonalization ritual - another clear symbol for those familiar with the topic.

The underworld is like a false paradise on earth; a Luciferian garden of delights that attracts and then taints innocent souls.

There are many allusions to the dualistic nature of the world in this film, including the dichotomy between sensory pleasure and corruption of the soul, the blood-stained smile (like the Joker’s) marking the face of the archetypal Adam after being corrupted and beaten by gangsters, the violent and dualistic will of the protagonist, who loves his daughter but wants to kill her, etc.

In this shot, the blood on the boy's face is symbolic of clown makeup.

I could write more about the rich symbolism in this film, but I don’t intend to go on too long, so I’ll just talk about one more scene.

After being beaten by classmates, Adam is thrown into a pool and sinks - a reference to the abyss, in which the boy experiences a symbolic death. Water is the mediator of light and darkness, as it reflects light and hosts darkness in its depths. That’s why (from a metaphysical perspective) the human body is made up of 60-70% water: the human soul, which flows from the heart, is carried by our blood, etc. And that’s why (again, from this metaphysical perspective) bathing is a purification ritual — the water draws our filth (our darkness) down into the abyss (the drain/sewer). Adam emerges from the pool and is rescued by Eve/Lilith (Kanako), whom he begins to see as his savior, who symbolically brought him back to life (but at the cost of his soul, since she was a false savior).

And this is it for this post. Thank you for your continued support! I truly appreciate it. I owe an apology to all my 10$ Patrons, as I forgot to include your names at the end of the last couple of videos. I'm truly sorry! :´) I really wish YouTube allowed me to edit the videos so I don't have to reupload them to fix minor mistakes lol.

Again, thank you all!
