Valentine’s Prompt: Box of chocolates

“Hey!” a now very familiar voice calls from the doorway of my apartment. I glance up from the sofa just in time to see a heart-shaped box come hurtling towards me like a frisbee. I stumble to catch it, then stare down in shock at the box with its neat, red satin bow.

“Wait, is this a valentine’s gift?” I ask, having to do a double take between the gift and Mason, who is now sauntering towards me. “Did you get me a gift?” I raise a brow. “And then oh-so-romantically chuck it at me?”

“It’s all about the romance for you, [redactedpetnamethat’smostlikelyinappropriatetouseinpublic],” he says as he flops down on the sofa beside me and throws an arm around my shoulders.

I barely hold back a chuckle before reaching down to tug at the bow, but Mason’s hand presses down on mine to stop me. 

“You’re not going to let me actually have one?”

“Of course,” he says. “But…they’re treats.” His voice deepens until it’s tickling over my skin and tempting me closer towards him. 

“Oh? And what do I need to do to earn a treat?”

His tongue slides over his bottom lip in eagerness and happiness that I’m playing along. “Well, you know, I’ve got to get something out of this Valentine’s stuff too.”

I run my fingers over his thigh. “And just what romantic moment were you hoping for.”

“Oh, sweetheart/handsome, what I want to do with you isn’t romantic at all,” he mutters against my skin as he nuzzles into my neck.

I do my best to quell the heat of excitement beginning to course through me. “But that’s not the point of Valentine’s.”

“Then maybe I got you the wrong gift…” His words whisper through me and excite my skin into goosebumps. “Maybe I should have walked in here wrapped in a big bow.”

My fingers grip onto his leg a little tighter and he lets out a low growl of eagerness against my neck. “Now that’s a gift I would quickly unwrap.”

Our flirtations are lost as I push him back onto the sofa, our mouths becoming occupied in much more interesting ways…
