The First Concept Art Mega Post

Friends! It's finally here! Before I begin, don't fret, I'm still painting bodies. That's not my only project though. <3  I've decided to share some EARLY progress of the NEW game I'm developing. Specifically some of the creative elements!

I'm exhausted, I pushed myself too hard, but I've finished the character design. I'm not ready to talk about him, or his fantastical powers just yet, but I hope you enjoy the artwork. Zoom in. Check out the details! It's very rich with imagination.

How it started:

Did you see this progress photo? It was how everything started, but I didn't want to leave the right arm unfinished, so I left it with artistic muscle strands exposed. 

I tried some shading techniques in addition to the hard shading. 

I also experimented a lot with lighting!

Painstakingly I created the rest of his body, over many hours. At one point my signature was on the leg. Do you spot it? This is what it looks like without soft shading, and without pubes:

I tried giving him clothes. The first version was pretty cool, buck lacked direction.

Changing the lighting and coloring didn't make it better.

It wasn't until I came up with this design, did everything start falling into place:

The pants initially started out with a pretty simple design:

I was actually really happy with how fast my ability to grasp this art style happened. It was just a couple weeks ago when I made this:

Not bad, but compare it to the shading below! Also I did not base the character on me at all, despite the speculation! However you will notice the feet below look like they belong to Best...

But enough about feet! Let's go through his different clothing options so far!

Why wear underwear when you can basically be a walking festival? I let my imagination do whatever it wanted here, and this was the result. I'm sure it will evolve! 

There's a reason why he has spikes on his shoulder, and his arm is doing what it's doing...but why would you care when the pants look AMAZING on his body. Did you spot the moon on the pant leg?

Why did I tear his shirt? That's a silly question. ;)

I do think Crop Tops should come back in style though. You can pair it with the coat.

It can also be worn without! Or if you're really wild... NO PANTS PARTY!

Finally here is the art without any soft shading, bloom, lighting, and JUST showing off the detailed pixel work. 

Thank you SO much for your support (and your patience) while I worked on this over the last week. I certainly did not expect it to take me so long, but I also wanted to knock it out of the park. Sometimes if you want great art, you have to take your time.
