Birthstone Debut: Sapphire with DJ

Hello friends! I'm back with two posts today, the first featuring a super detailed Hummingbird on my Sapphire body painting from my series "Birthstones and Beyond".

The second will feature Lily in a Peacock themed painting! You could say today has really gone to the birds ;p But seriously, LOOK AT THIS BIRD:

I don't know why I decided to hit it with Neon, but it just felt right. Plus it brings out another side of the painting that you don't get to enjoy as much with regular light:

That being said, the joy on DJ's face makes it totally worth the lack of black light! The painting features a Blue-throated goldentail, otherwise known as the "Blue-throated Sapphire".

This September birthstone may symbolizes wisdom, loyalty, and truth. It's can also be associated with nobility, sincerity, and faithfulness. Sapphires have been revered for their diverse symbolic meanings throughout history, including protection from harm and envy, and even healing properties.

That means if you were a mage, you probably had one on hand! ;-)

Speaking of hands, let's give DJ a hand for their second time modelling for me! It's always a joy to be in their presence, and if you remember the first time they were painted was because of winning the competition "Rising Star" the night I judged!

The above photo features a string of stones and a serious expression! This was before we added the blue lip, featured in the next photo.

Their partner is "Dick Skinny" who I worked with recently for Phoenix Pride's King Stepdown Ceremony! Yes, it's a small world, after all ;p
