What did we do this week? (Aug 26th 2021)

Fei : Streaming went haywire today. But I had Mint Chocolate and Walnuts and that combo is delicious.

It felt kind of therapeutic to watch things not working while knowing it's not your fault and there's nothing you can do. At least if you got Mint Chocolate and Walnuts nearby.

Anyway I hope this won't happen again!

今天直播出了問題,但是我吃了薄荷巧克力和核桃,這個組合很讚。看著事情不順利的同時知道這不是你的錯,你也無能為力,這種感覺很有治療效果。至少如果旁邊有薄荷巧克力跟核桃的話。總之,我希望這個問題不要再發生了!


LEO : After finishing most of the work in the new area, I went to put a lot of pedestrians, cats, dogs, birds and drones to make it feel alive. When I do that kind of work, I usually spend a little time thinking about the reasons why they'd be here, I don't want to just put them everywhere randomly. I need spend a little bit of brain work for each one and try to come up with what they are doing here, while also taking care of the uniformity of it all as a whole.

Since we are a tiny team, we can't spend too much time to make everything perfect. I just use a simple tool that Feili made for me to put these pedestrians in Unity. But actually they are just tons of data beside just positions in Unity. I can't visualize them while placing their locators. So I put a temporary cube for every pedestrians which allows me to grasp the situation. It's fun to see so many white cube in city. Feili call them Tofu people jokingly. Well, maybe that's a good parody idea.

在完成了場景製作的大部分工作之後,為了讓整個城市具有活力,我們需要放置大量的背景路人在城市裡,他們包括一般的路人,貓,狗,鳥以及無人機。當我在放置他們的時候也必須顧及到合理性而不是隨意地放置,需要稍微花一些腦筋去思考他們的行為,並且兼顧整體散布的均勻程度。因為我們是一個小團隊,沒有辦法花費太多時間去製作工具,因此我只能使用Feili提供給我的簡易工具來放置這些路人,實際上在Unity內他們只是無數的數據位置,看不到路人本身的模型,因此我會暫時放置一個方塊來代替,讓我更容易把握整體環境的樣子。看到許多白色方塊在城市中也是相當有趣,Feili戲稱他們為豆腐人,或許這是個一個惡搞的好點子。


Yang : Congratulations! We won the 2021 Bahamte ACG Creative Competition - Game Group Award! On the other hand, a new side mission will be added, the goal is to guide players toward the Slum District, this time I will be using multiple mission starters NPCs to trigger the same side mission, to increase the chances for players to see and play this mission. Ruby will chase the guy to a location that will be near the next plot mission, I think it will be a fun way to gently lead the player through the new area and let him know this is where things happens.

恭喜!我們獲得2021 ACG 創作大賽 遊戲組 優選賞。另一方面,將會新增一個新的支線任務,目標是把玩家導向窮人街區,這次我會放多個任務起始NPC,這樣可以增加玩家看到這個任務的機會,Ruby將會追一個人,最終地點會在下一個主線任務的起始點。利用比較溫和的方式把玩家帶到新的區域、使玩家知道這邊會有些事情發生, 這樣的感覺是有趣的。
