Public Poll: Klara's warlock patron
Added 2021-01-02 23:24:08 +0000 UTCHowdy folks!
So, basically, here's your chance to have a say in what type of patron Klara has as a warlock!
To give a brief explanation to those who may not have a complete understanding of what I'm asking, let me break it down for ya in the simplest way possible!
Warlocks get their magic powers from an eldritch entity, a patron. Some form of bargain is struck and the entity gives the warlock a piece of it's power in exchange for... something. Firstborn son, soul, real estate, who knows!
The patrons available in published material for D&D 5e is as follows:
The Archfey: A Lord or Lady of the Fey, which are strange supernatural creatures that reside in the Feywild. Think extremely powerful fairy with inscrutable motives and mysterious ways. Might want to pull a prank one minute and wipe out a city the other. Weird hippies.
The Celestial: A being of the Upper Planes, meaning a more divine flavour. Basically things like different types of angelic beings (like literal angels) but hell, even things like unicorns fall into this category. This is the option for people that want to play good warlocks but... it doesn't have to be.
The Fathomless: Basically an entity that resides deep within the ocean is giving the warlock a bunch of water based powers. Breathe underwater and shit. Anything from a massive kraken-like being to Davey fuckin' Jones could fall into this.
The Fiend: Allright, this is about as classic as we get. The Fiend is a demon or devil from literal hell. No subleties here, you're worshipping an evil demon. Hellfire and sulphur all up in the house, grandma's favourite.
The Genie: I mean, you have seen Aladdin right?
The Great Old One: Straight up Lovecraftian Cthulhu-type stuff. Timeless alien creatures beyond the veil of existense. Your brain melts with terror just by uttering their names. Makes introductions real awkward at dinner parties.
The Hexblade: Mentioned this in the last poll, a entity that manifests it's powers through sentient magical weapons. You made a deal with a talking sword. You swear you're not crazy.
The Undying: Basically a really powerful undead being, like a lich or deathless entity that looked at mortality and went "nah, fuck that noise." Probably not the nicest guy.
So yeah, that's basically all ya need to know!
Have a great one and as always:
Peace and carrots!

I voted The Celestial just because it would be hilarious to see something Trevor was so excited about actually break in Beckett's favor. Although it would be even better if she was CG. That said, I support the idea of her patron being a Biblically accurate angel.
2021-01-05 14:52:25 +0000 UTCAs I recall, D&D celestials aren't exactly paragons of good. They are paragons of law. Their law. Everything that smells chaotic has to be cleansed. By a golden Eldrich Blast, I suppose.
