Sneak-Peek: Pixie Cut 🦋 + Happy May Newsletter 💌✨

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a lovely week so far :)

It’s been very rainy and gloomy lately but today we finally have some sun! 😍 So I’m enjoying some sunshine while I write this little newsletter :) Today I wanted to add some more rendering to one of the demo drawings from our hairstyles tutorial  so here’s a little sneak-peek! I had so much fun with all the little details in this like her phone case and outfit pieces, pastels are sooo calming to paint with 😌

April Recap:

Last month was a really refreshing month :) After coming out of February which is always more challenging due to the shortened amount of days, I really wanted to focus on slowing down a bit more and taking time to rest on weekends (which I rarely do! 🙈) I even went to a movie theater for the first time in literal years which felt so surreal!! I don’t know about you guys, but people rarely go to the movies anymore where I live so the theaters are always kind of ghostly and empty, which makes me a little sad 🥲 We saw the Mario movie though and I LOVED it! I ended up painting some princess peachy fan art because I felt so inspired :) 

Last month I also tried to challenge myself more with environments in particular, and I ended up painting two scenes! It’s a small number heh but for me it’s notable since I rarely paint environments 🙊 I want to improve my ability to convey scenes around characters since it’s something I have to do for my Webtoon comic (and I want to share more sneak-peeks of the comic with you soon too! 👀) 

Things I’m thinking about this month:

Since Mermay is happening this month, there’s a lot of water-themed art going around and it always inspires me to make something mermaid/water related! 👀🧜‍♀️ I’ve been putting together a Pinterest board with lots of references to use so here’s a little sneak-peek:

 I’m thinking of sharing the board with you guys and starting a little May challenge where you can pick any reference you want from the board to use as inspiration for a mermaid/character, and then I can share your lovely drawings on my insta stories! 💕 It‘ll be a super breezy and relaxed challenge and give us all some experience with water :) Let me know what you guys think! 💭 

Each year I also love creating some water-themed educational content here during May, which will help with the challenge too! So stay tuned for that as well ☺️🌊
