Tenth Anniversary !

November 20th, 2014 I published the Macintosh SE video as the first in a potential series of documentaries on Macintosh computer models. One motivation was to justify a collection that I had been building since 2004. Another reason was that there were very few videos on old Macintosh computers... at least very few that I found helpful. I figured I should start with the first Macintosh my family owned, and that was a Macintosh SE, purchased just before Apple released the SE/30... not that we could have afforded that!

I was proud of my video, and it still fascinated me that I could put videos out there, available to the world. As a result, most of the first 100 views on that video were probably me, plus a handful of curious viewers who had watched my previous Macintosh repair videos. I kept making the series of videos because I enjoyed making them and watching them. But ultimately videos are nothing without an audience, and an audience started to form after a few years. I liked the idea that someone else might watch them and discover them informative and entertaining. Thanks to everyone who is reading this for making this 10-year effort worthwhile.

In celebration, I fire up the Macintosh SE. The Rodime Hard Drive makes the familiar melodic start-up noises. The original soldered-in Varta clock battery still holds the time after 35 years and counting. The OS is still the stock system 6.0.2. Back then the SE rescued me from a clunky old typewriter. Today it marks the beginning of a decades-long exploration of Macintosh computing.

I’ve produced 8 1/2 hours of public content in the form of 18 videos in the Macintosh Collector Series (Yeah, I’m counting the Hamburger Helper video, I don’t care what anyone says). That's a lot of scripted content, especially if you think of someone binge-watching it.

As for the future, I've got a couple videos in the works. One pushes the boundaries of the channel and another in the same theme as the previous videos. I may pause billing next month while I work on those projects, but I will still be posting here when I have updates or something to complain about.

I'm interested to know which video in the series is your personal favourite, since this is one place that everyone is familiar with the videos (... I would hope).
