This week I want to talk about what I’m watching. And because it’s October you know damn well that all I’m watching is Halloween shit. Normally in October I like to watch Halloween movies or horror movies pretty frequently. I tend to go back to my old faithful‘s like Hocus Pocus, the nightmare before Christmas, Halloween, the Addams family, and a Bunch more. On top of that every year I try and have a theme for what I’m watching. Last year it was horror icons, so I watched all the nightmare on Elm Street, all the Halloween‘s, all the Friday the 13th, and a random spattering of others such as Texas chainsaw, hell raiser, scream, and evil dead.
This year I wanted to do something a little different. This year I wanted to watch only movies I had never seen before. I thought this would be a difficult task because I’ve seen a lot of Halloween movies and quite a few horror movies. Turns out I’m an absolute fucking poser. There are so many movies I haven’t seen, so in addition to only watching new movies I told myself that I would also watch at least one a day for all 31 days of October.
To narrow the list down a little bit I’m trying to stick to more Halloween centric movies. What I mean by that is that I’m not just going for horror films. To me horror films aren’t the same as Halloween films. That’s not to say that all the films I’m going to watch will involve the holiday Halloween, but that I want them to focus more on the spooky. or dead ass just be kids Halloween movies which is how it’s been playing out so far.
For example here’s the list of the movies I’ve watched thus far: The animated Addams family, haunted mansion, corpse bride, The craft, hotel Transylvania, practical Magick, monster house, and Coraline. See I told you I was a fucking poser. So yeah that’s what I’ve been doing. Sometimes I watch part of it while I’m working and the rest at night, sometimes I’ll watch two in one day, and sometimes I don’t have time for any. But hey we’re getting through it.
oh, and if you’re wondering, I loved the corpse bride and Hotel Transylvania, I enjoyed the Addams family and Coraline, the craft in haunted Mansion we’re pretty good, but I wasn’t a big fan of monster house or practical Magic.
But now I’m curious what your Halloween movie traditions are, or what you would recommend that I watch. Keeping in mind that you have absolutely no idea what I’ve watched before. But I mean like… I’m a fucking poser so there’s a pretty good chance I’ve never seen whatever it is you recommend!
