This week for “what I’m” Wednesday… I mean fitness Friday… I mean… What the hell is going on here???
I forgot about “what I’m” Wednesday because I was so excited to post that stupid little D.VA photo. I spent a little bit a time editing it so when I was done I posted that instead of the what I’m Wednesday. Ironically, what I was going to talk about was fitness related so it was also kind of a fitness Friday post. And when I say ironic I mean it in the alanis morissette kind of way, not the literal way.
With the gym closed again, I haven’t been able to work out. That’s mostly in part to my shoulder being injured which doesn’t allow me to do any form of upper body workout at home. No push-ups, no dips, no bicep curls, nothing. That’s sad, stretching has become incredibly important for my rehabilitation so I’ve been spending a lot of time stretching and doing yoga. Just keep in mind when I say “doing yoga” I don’t actually mean difficult yoga, or even real yoga if I’m being honest. I’ve mostly just been finding poses that feel really good and sticking with that was almost creating my own routines. For me it’s more about the stretching then the activity but what’s nice is it also found some great videos about mindfulness and relaxation. I suppose that’s more mental fitness than physical fitness but it’s still been pretty nice!
Yoga has always been something I’ve found very daunting because I’m one of the least flexible human beings in the world, and stretching has been some thing I’ve pretty much neglected for my entire fitness career. I know, I know, that’s really really bad of me, but it always just felt like something I didn’t have time for. I’m pretty sure I was wrong about that because… Well look at me now my shoulders been fucked up for nearly a month and it’s very likely due to a lack of stretching after exercise. Oops!
All this to say, it’s been nice trying something different, it’s been nice stepping out of my comfort zone a bit (figuratively and literally) and my shoulder is really starting to feel better. I’m sure no one really cares about this but I just felt like I needed to give an update since a few weeks ago I posted an entire story complaining and being a baby. To be honest sometimes it feels a bit like my journal? So thank you all for coming on this wild ride with me. HMMM… It seems like A weird way to end a post about fitness, but oh well here we are!
