Last January Print!

Here it is folks, the last print from the this months 10 year series! If you like getting a little BTS commentary let me know and maybe Shaun and i can do it again sometime! Thank you all so much for making the first month of 2021 so great!

STRETCH

SHAUN: This shot went viral in a 'hot guys side-by-side with cats doing the same pose" post a few years ago; it was the last look we shot for our 8th shoot together. The features that always captivate my focus as a photographer are the eyes, and you've always been able to connect with the camera with ease. This shot I always loved because even with your eyes closed you still connected, and even with that physique, my attention is still drawn to the nuances of your facial expression.

MIKE: The side-by-side photo of me with a cat was truly when I knew I had made it as a model. I mean.. 'hot guys side-by-side with cats doing the same pose’ what more can someone ask for? But seriously though I look back at this shoot with glee because we really did everything we could to shoot different looks in the same studio. We used what we had to make unique settings and backgrounds and in this case I believe we used an air mattress. It sounds like something only an absolute mad man would do, but god damn, it worked. It didn’t just work, it worked really really well. It was also incredibly comfortable to lean on compared to the cold concrete we had shot against earlier, so thank you for that! Was this the mattress from the valentines shoot too?

SHAUN: Yeah, that old studio was a pretty eclectic space! We always went in to a shoot with a rough idea of what we’d be doing, and then just improvised in the moment with wardrobe, lighting, and location changes throughout the space. Being self-taught and still learning the basics, I used to get very nervous shooting on anything other than studio backgrounds; without even discussing it, we’ve always managed to push each other out of our comfort zones – working with you always kinda feels like a safe space to play and experiment with new ideas. And yes, that inflatable air mattress we used was the same from the Valentine’s shoot!

MIKE: Thrifty, thrifty! II remember this shoot strictly because I loved how my hair looked. It’s literally one of my favourite hair styles of all times and I remember I did it because we were shooting some head shots so I wanted it to look perfect. I also remember that we shot like 8 different looks and you were such a trooper. Almost 80% of the wardrobe was brought by you (not that there was much clothing to be worn)!

SHAUN: That was a pretty great hair day for ya; it was this shoot where we did that fun series of headshots showing the many faces of Hamm. The shoot was like a creative explosion, and I didn’t want it to stop. Pretty sure I said ‘lets just shoot one more look…’ at least a few times during that shoot…
