As most of you know, I like to come up with a silly theme every April as an homage to April fools. This year I wanted to do something really cringy so I decided to do a sexy Mickey Mouse photo shoot. At first I thought that would be enough for the month but as I kept thinking, I realized it might be interesting (for some of you out there) if I shared some of my Disney experiences. It’s genuinely not something I talk about a lot, but it is something that I post about a lot, so hey… why not.
Being in love with Disney is some thing that’s fairly new to me. Obviously, I enjoyed Disney as a kid growing up in the 90s because we had the incredible Disney Renaissance which featured movies like the little mermaid, beauty and the beast, lion King, Aladdin, and Hercules. Outside of that though, I really wasn’t that into Disney when I first went to Disneyland in 2017. I had never seen a majority of the movies most people had (Cinderella, sleeping beauty, Snow White, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland… The list literally goes on) Hell, there were even some renaissance films I hadn’t seen like Pocahontas, the hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, or Tarzan.
Not having seen a majority of Disney movies or Pixar movies. I wasn’t particularly excited to go to Disneyland for the first time. Going to Disney just felt like it was some thing I ‘should probably do while I am in California’. Luckily for me the person who took me there was a fanatic so they were able to tell me everything about everything.
I’m not trying to be hyperbolic or anything, but it was genuinely one of the best times I’ve ever had in my entire life, and I had no idea why. None of the characters really meant anything to me and none of the rides were particularly interesting, but there was something about Disneyland that truly was magical. I’ve had so many incredible experiences at this point with some many great people, but unfortunately, it’s starting to become clear that the magic is quickly leaving. Maybe I’ll do a different post talking about that because I could go on for hours and hours, but all of this to say, I had gone from a Disney sceptic to a full on Disney lunatic.
All the pictures I have posted here are from my very first trip to Disneyland. It’s weird to look back at these and think this is the first time I ever saw the castle or got to meet Mickey Mouse.
I truly am a child trapped in a somewhat adults body.
