Halloween Movies

The wonderful photo by Shaun Simpson deserves all the attention but I’m also using this as a way to solicit some Halloween movie recommendations! I will accept any horror/thriller recommendations but as it get closer to Halloween im always looking for movies about the actual holiday! Ive got room for about 8 horror/trillers and 4-5 Halloween focused flicks. What are your must watch movies?

I don't know if it would count as an halloween movie (definitely a thriller though) but I'd recommend The Faculty from Kevin Williamson and Robert Rodriguez. Late 90's movie kind of the same vibe as Buffy's "Bad eggs" episode but with Josh Hartnett, Elijah Woods and many more including Famke Janssen ;)

If you haven't seen Cabin In The Woods yet it's a must-see. A very interesting take on your traditional slasher movie. The Thing (the one from the 80s) Event Horizon

My fav horror movies are more psychological. So I love Hereditary and Psycho. I have also just watched the fall of the house of usher on Netflix and it was fantastic!!! I also love haunting of hill house. Both are limited series so you can binge them in a day.

Tyler Morrissette

I always watch Trick 'r Treat and Halloween III every year (for Halloween-themed movies) , and either classic Universal Monster movies or Hammer Horror movies.

Nick Brown

I liked the Fear Street trilogy on Netflix, depending on your point of view for the movie Nightmare Before Christmas ( I usually watch before Halloween and Christmas) and not really fully Halloween but Practical Magic

James Cockburn

1. Hocus Pocus 1 & 2. 2. Monster Squad. 3. Little Shop of Horrors (1986). 4. Rocky Horror Picture Show (my favorite movie) 5. Trick R Treat. 6. Porno (this is actually a really fun horror movie from 2019). 7. Paranorman (a good double bill with Coraline). 8. Blade 1 & 2. 9. Bride of Chucky. 10. Scream (I usually binge all of them over a couple days) 11. Evil Dead (any of them). 12. Halloween (1978) ( a holiday must watch). 13. Hellfest. 14. Haunt. 15. Autopsy of Jane Doe

Ken Rose

And either Suspiria version. Original is very visual and trippy, remake is a great story with a much more subdued aesthetic.

Adam Dailey

Just watched Totally Killer on Prime. Tight slasher story with fun performances. Gave Final Girls vibes which is also awesome.

Must watchfor me are hell house LLC and the Halloween tree (not super scary but a childhood classic for me)

Dan Brophy

Horror/Thriller: You’re Next (delightful, entertaining). Actually about Halloween: The Halloween Tree (animated, based on the short story by Ray Bradbury, classic)

Jesse Kidd

Trick or Treat, if you want Halloween scares, but Event Horizon really messed me up!

Kyle & Jeff Manasmith

V/H/S 2 I have found to be one of the best especially the temple segment.
