Life goals!

This may not mean a lot to a many of you, but this was one of the MOST important moments of my life. This man right here is Brian Michael Bendis and he writes comics. Not only does he write comics, but he wrote the very first comic I ever bought with my own money.

I had always read comics, but I never followed a series. I just read what ever I could get my hands on and would use my imagination to fill in the rest of the story. Finally I got the nerve to walk into my local comic shop and start asking questions. I had no idea where to start because comics can be incredibly confusing and with out hesitation the guy at the desk slapped down a comic that had just come out two days ago called “avengers disassembled”.

It was the story of the avengers being ripped apart by a mind controlled Scarlet witch. I won’t get into spoilers but the things she does to her team mates, both physically and psychologically are brutal.

This story line was the one that would eventually lead to house of M (mutants out numbering humans and easily the best mini series I’ve read), plant hulk, world war hulk, and eventually civil war as well. This comic thrust me into the deep and made me who I am today. This man, wrote a story SO good that it changed who I was as a person. I am the geek I am today in part because of Brian Michael Bendis and I got to meet him and get the very first comic I ever bought signed. It was a good day.
