It required a hernia exam, testicle exam (checking for lumps and as well as that you had both) and "Tanner Staging" (a scale based on pubic hair and genital size to determine how far along into puberty you are). They do not do group exams at school anymore but they used to. The terrible horror-comedy movie "Arachnophobia" has a scene where the doctor gives a group of high school football players a hernia exam in the locker room. I always went to a private doctor and was double-booked with my younger brother for cost savings and we were examined together.

It was still embarrassing but at least it was only my brother and me that saw each other naked with the doctor. I would have liked to have seen my classmates *laugh*
