Our Life: Now & Forever Mini-Demo Beta Build! 🍂 (PC, Mac, Android)
Added 2021-12-25 00:57:10 +0000 UTCHappy Holidays! Here it is! It's now possible to get a feel for what OL2 is actually like, and officially meet the new leads. We've been kicking around ideas for this project for two years and now there's actually a playable build. That's crazy.
The demo has about 25,000 words, though a lot of that content is seen by making different choices in additional playthroughs rather than that being the length from start to finish.
There's a lot of polish to this demo, but it's not 100% complete. One of the main things is that the script was being implemented while the gameplay features were being worked on.
Because of that it wasn't possible to add references to certain things about the MC. If the MC has a nickname, your dominate hand(s), etc. don't currently come up in this build. I'll add more references to the MC's set details as the development goes on. It's also possible that some combinations/uses of things might not come out right when details are mentioned. We tested various things but there's a lot involved, especially with the gender/pronouns, so there could be problems we missed.

We did our best with the new features and the two sweeties you can grow up with. We really hope you'll enjoy this first look at our next major project. Feel free to leave any questions/feedback/reactions you have below 💕

I just got a chance to play the beta, I'm super excited. While I love Cove and the interactions with him from OL1, I think the new complexity with all the different meters in OL2 could be fun to play around with. One thing that struck me though, and I really really hope it happens because it'd make me cry in the best most wonderful way, is the mat at the end of the demo, "Welcome Home" I have no idea where the story will go, BUT I would die of cuteness if the 'end' of OL2 was the MC and their chosen partner (or partners, I'm still really hoping for a poly option) enter their new home together, and the last shot is of the welcome home mat. Indicating that with you partner(s), you truly are home.

It does bother me that the eyebrow color won't match hair colors. Is it possible for it to match in the future? Especially if we're going to be looking at our character portrait throughout the game. When you meet Qiu and think he's the prettiest person, then meet Tamarack you can either think she's prettier or second prettiest BUT the same interaction doesn't happen in reverse going from Tamarack to Qiu. Unless I just wasn't selecting the right options.

The team has done a phenomenal job so far :). Next time I play I'll actually try to look out for bugs!

Maybe leaving the server, unconnecting the account, and reconnecting the account to Patreon will sort it out. Or you could wait a day or so to see if the roles turn on, there might just be a delay.

Sometimes you need a lot more free space open than just the size of the file for whatever reason and sometimes there are device settings/firewalls that won't let the file downloaded because it's decided the file isn't known enough to be trusted. Maybe looking into either of those could help.

I had such a good time and loved the added complexity/customization to our character and the relationships. It’s kind of nice to play a character that isn’t easy going.

I played it meeting Tama first and then Qiu and switched and met Qiu first and then Tama. gosh, this game is going to be adorable. I love the mom already. the new paper doll screan is fantastic. I love all the new options. It's cool that we can even choose which hand is our dominant one among other things. the two love intests are wonderful in their own right. I like that Tama is very inquisitve and seems to have a lots of energy. Qui is a scatterbrained, charming sweetheart. I'm going to have so much fun with this game.

2021-12-27 02:27:32 +0000 UTCThe prolong was really great, I love the characters already, I like the fact that u can choose a nickname, and custom pronouns!!, the presets and a little slider to adjust the colors was a really smart move, this demo was really polished, I think u just really need to a tool tip to the relationship standing screen like other have said would be helpful

2021-12-26 23:14:46 +0000 UTCI had an okay time understanding it (I will say having it be unassuming instead of easygoing could cause some confusion) but I definitely agree! That would be a smart thing to add a tooltip so players can remind themselves of some of the mechanics so they don't accidentally set up a dynamic they don't want! Especially since there's going to be a jealousy mechanic, you don't want players mixing up jealous of and jealous (protective of mc). A tooltip or info drop when you hover over each option that gives a short description would be a good addition!

I did find that with this more complex relationship standing screen (compared to OL1) that I was having some trouble remembering what each of the options meant. Having to scroll back up several times isn't very convenient either. So perhaps some kind of info box or tooltip could be a user experience improvement.

As many have mentioned, the music was especially amazing, really draws you in and makes you feel nostalgic for things you might not even remember, haha. I also love the amount of customisation and dialog options too! I can only imagine how time-consuming coding all that must be so I am very grateful to everyone on the team ❤️ Can't wait to see how the game develops further!

I wonder though if you choose that option too much if maybe your mom or qiu's parents will mention it? That could be an interesting thing to add! I remember I had a friend who was super shy as a kid and we got scolded by our parents because I kept speaking for her when I thought I was helping her since she didn't speak up much. Just food for thought!

2021-12-25 15:22:10 +0000 UTCI love the demo! Everyone is so cute and memorable. The doll maker was an improvement from last time. I really like the art style! I especially love that we can see our faces and expressions in situations now! I did notice a few things; 1. The player sprite is a bit too small which makes it difficult to see the expressions your character makes. I noticed in previous screenshots that originally the text box was larger and you could see the mc doll face really well! Maybe consider slightly tweaking the text box size not even by half vertically perhaps (if you want to keep the smaller text box) so you can enlarge the mc sprite slightly? It just seems like such a shame that you can't properly see the cute expressions they make in scenes and interactions! 2. When you meet Qiu first and then meet tamarack as a boy, there is one line where he refers to player character by them/they pronouns instead of 'he'. It's at the part where Qiu says " And I'll walk Lua there. I gotta make sure they don't get lost out here" Other than that I haven't seen any other pronoun mistakes! I can already tell I'm going to fall in love with all the characters and story! The music is so comforting and beautiful. I'm so happy that I can support you guys, seeing all the great storytelling has inspired me to pick up writing again. I can't wait to beta test more of Our Life now and forever! Happy holidays! 2021-12-25 14:14:48 +0000 UTCWhen I saw this I was literally exploding with happiness (my mom also know this game because I always talk to her about it) and saw how happy I was for this, probably she thought it was funny XD Still, I was obviously happy and immediately tried it and I loved it. Tamarack killed me of cuteness I had to take some time to recover myself because when there were all hearts around her dialogue it was like a arrow of cuteness hit me straight in the heart, as for Qiu (which is the one I want to romance first because he's/they are the one I like the most and because also a matter of sexuality of mine, but I still love to see Tamarack story too) he killed me too, I love his personality and when he said I was pretty too I died, he's so smooth lol He's also really funny and kinda stupid (not noticing the pages he lose which was cute and funny) I really loved this Demo and the drawings are so nice! The atmosphere and songs are too, I would say more but I have to go out XD The point is, your work is good as always and I love it!

But after playing this small demo, I feel like an idiot lmao. I'm so excited! It's not like I'm getting rid of Cove, just doing a different journey with new people! I love Qiu so much, they're so adorable... I really cannot wait for the whole game now.

I really love the slow pan in Qiu’s initial CG image, I love the music, I love the art style, the backgrounds. I absolutely adore how you guys configured the Dynamics situation, it will definitely make for an immersive experience. Absolutely love the two leads.
