Added 2023-01-05 19:00:03 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Here's the first Q&A thread of 2023. Here you can ask questions to me, the lead developer/company runner. The questions will be answered in a recording with a text transcript at the end of the month.
There's two guidelines for what can be submitted;
1. I'm afraid questions about what scenes Our Life: Now & Forever will include aren't answerable right now. Most of the details are decided as the game is created and currently I'm only writing the prologue of Step 1. So, I can't accept questions relating to what for sure will or won't happen past that point. I do know some things coming later, but only a small fraction of the whole game.
2. And the questions can't be about more serious/potentially upsetting topics because I don't want those listening to suddenly be surprised with something they might not have been prepared for/want to be confronted with.

2023-01-20 14:08:17 +0000 UTCYeah, the heights can't be very specific because it does vary between genders and countries and such and we can't know what baseline the player is using to judge what's considered short/average/tall. So it's simply in comparison to the heights of the other characters. Baxter's not the tallest guy around in the story, so if you're not particularly tall than you'll generally be around his height. But he's not short either, so if you are short than you'll be treated as shorter than him.

2023-01-14 07:31:53 +0000 UTCI apologize if this is a bit redundant, but I just wanna make sure I have this right, haha. In step 1 of OL2 (and step 2 of OL1), Baxter's hair is dark grey. Then, he dyes it black in step 2 of OL2 (and white with grey streaks in step 3 of OL1). Finally, he dyes it black again in step 4 of OL1, right? Or does he let it go back to being dark grey? Sorry if this is a silly question, it's a little difficult for me to tell and I am a bit forgetful. No pressure to answer this if you don't want to, I just thought I remembered seeing sorta conflicting info, and I wanted to make sure I had it right, haha.

When I choose the average height in Step3, it seems to be the same height as Baxter, but in fact I think the average height is the average height of women (about 165cm), and I remember that Baxter is much taller than this. We now know what the OL1 LIs would think of the MC being a merperson... But what do YOU think of players headcanonning (is that a word?) their MCs as having merperson blood? As in, they are not actually a merperson, but have merperson ancestors that they are not aware of. I can't help but imagine my MC having selkie ancestors! Also for OL2, are you planning on having a relevant magical creature being mentionned in the story similar to how merpeople are in OL1? For example some kind of fae or woodland sprites? (PS: just to clarify, not really asking which one or anything - just asking if it's something you're planning on doing or not, or if you simply don't know yet) Thank you and have a great day!

However as time goes on, people who “fit” in that definition will start using the word themselves, they will jokingly and proudly call themselves that. Still, some people aren’t comfortable with such terms, and while they can appreciate others positive use of them, they would rather not be called it themselves, even by family and loved ones. I wish to respect that and this is a roundabout way of asking would Derek be okay being called a himbo?

2023-01-05 19:47:34 +0000 UTCHey GB-patch, I just want to say, I think you (and whoever writers have helped) did a really good job with the romance in OL, it's always really nice to re-play those really sweet and heartwarming moments ^-^ However, as an aro/ace person, I've always appreciated how much effort and consideration is put into the characters' platonic relationships as well. I like how important family and friends are to the MC, and that you can choose just how close you are to certain characters and how you feel about them (like, how you can choose if Cove is a more casual friend or like family, if Cliff is a family friend or like a father to you, etc.), and those relationships aren't treated as inferior or less important than your romantic ones. Basically, it just makes me really happy, haha. Finally, on to my question. Ik it's not something discussed in game, but would Cove, Derek, or Baxter be open to a queerplatonic relationship with an aro/ace MC? (Like, completely platonic and non-sexual, but they still have a committed partnership that's different from being "regular" friends). (Also I know it'd be a little too far off to discuss atm, but I do think the option to be in a QPR with the OL2 love interests would be a cool idea to keep in mind. No pressure ofc, I'll be happy to play regardless ^-^)
