Our Life: Baxter DLC Build 1.6.8B 🍰 (PC, Mac, & Android)
Added 2023-03-24 18:41:11 +0000 UTCAlright everybody, this should be the penultimate beta for Baxter! Step 3 was finished before and now there's a very good amount of Step 4 to experience. But, as you might be able to tell from the screenshot, Baxter's not gonna make things easy. For the MC or himself. Good luck, ahah.
Important Notes To Play the Beta:
- You access Baxter's Step 3 Moments by clicking a yellow button on the right hand side of the Moment Selection Screen.
- The extra Step 3 scene for Baxter in the 'and then summer ended' section happens after the credits!
- You need to play all of Baxter's Step 3 Moments to get the option to play Baxter's Step version of Step 4.
- Baxter's DLC begins in the Step 3 opening. You can play from the beginning of the story until that point or start a new file and use an option at the start of the beta to skip right to Step 3.
- Save files from this beta won't work in other beta builds or the main game. You can load saves from the main game in the beta but you need to play Step 3 from the beginning to see the new content.
New Content:
- A large portion of Baxter Step 4 was implemented
- Over 51,000 words of new content was added in total
- The Baxter DLC should work with Cove's content in terms of logical continuity, though more bonus alterations may be added over time
- Missing and incomplete art from prior builds got added
- Errors were fixed from the previous beta
I hope the continuation of his story was worth the wait, especially after how things worked out in Step 3. Baxter loves to be unique and his DLC is quite different from everything else in Our Life. Thank you for all of the feedback so far!

Honestly, would love an eyeroll, scoff, or other obviously offended option after Baxter's "explanation" when you get him to take a "break" after the Xake visit.

I just hope he gets a small spicy scene like we did with Derek's DLC >_< I think my only disgruntle was the drinks DLC there was a lot of dialogue for the drink show and it became a bit tedious for me. All in all, I can not wait for the final release its going to be amazing!

You and your team are doing such amazing work and really do know how to make me feel for this man 💘 He tries so hard to be professional but just can't help himself around MC but also won't allow himself to get caught up in the feelings as well 😭

The amount of times I wished there was an option to slap him, and other times wanted to just give him a hug, were too numerous to count. He's world's away from how things can end with Derek, that it's like an entirely different story. It must be true, because I think I'm tearing up a lot more here, and for different reasons still. I don't think my heart is ready for what's still to come. I'll be waiting with bated breath. Thank you for bringing this story to life, it'll be something I'll always remember.

And its annoyed me cuz I'd never gotten this before and I wanna know what happens T-T

2023-03-26 00:05:54 +0000 UTCi'm someone who also struggles with the urge to distance myself, and it's worse when i'm with people i really care about. trauma does funny (read, awful) things to the way our brains work sometimes, and it's so nice to see this represented in such a great way with baxter. when i first saw that scene in the wedding dlc when you practice dancing with him and he says the line about wanting to be liked but not being able to be important, i legit cried so hard. OL is the first time i've seen that kind of behavior represented in a way that you're allowed to be okay with, and baxter has come to mean so much to me since then. i'm so excited to finally be able to get my hands on this dlc, i almost can't believe how close it is to being complete! thank you so much for writing such realistic, beautifully flawed, and wonderfully relatable characters for us <3

2023-03-25 19:04:05 +0000 UTCwow. that's all I have to say. wow. now, I love angst, don't get me wrong but the amount of times I almost cried because of some of the scenes is just- god you've done such an amazing job bringing Baxter to life, his character is just so thought out and well written, I would never have thought he'd be such a complicated character a few months ago, now I just can't stop thinking about him, trying to figure out what was the cause of this distancing thought process he has, not wanting to be close to anyone, even his parents? did something happen to him? was this just something he developed over the years? I have so many questions. I just want to hug him again and tell him it's gonna be okay.. even though he seems to hate being comforted and opening up to people D': I absolutely cannot wait until his full dlc is released, but for now, I'm gonna go replay this update a few times over. back to crying for me!

LOL Baxter is the snarkiest, flirtiest, hottest (IMHO) and most complex of all the LI. Thanks GB Patch, *standing ovation* for another brilliant job.

2023-03-25 13:30:36 +0000 UTCThis update...This update...*chefs kiss* The face Baxter made when he was sitting and heard MC's voice again- At first I thought about being petty and telling Jude and Scott what Baxter said about them in Step 3, but that might be too petty so I decided not to. The Baxter and MC interactions were hard. The way his face dropped when MC could say they missed him hit. However, it is a very awkward situation for both of them for different reasons. When the bowling part happened, it really hit how awkward the whole situation was. You have two couples(Terry and Miranda, Jude and Scott) but Baxter and MC are exes. Awkward exes. MC wanting to talk and Baxter keeps his distance. I will bonk him with a rolled-up newspaper! Although it was nice to get little moments between them, where they talk a little and catch up. I thought the talk in Baxter's apartment was nice because it does give us a little insight on things. We will finish the talk later, Baxter! I did find one bug: In the bowling alley where MC has the option to bring up how Baxter never wanted to eat there before it said an exception occurred. Then Baxter's mouth disappeared for a little bit before returning.

2023-03-25 13:27:19 +0000 UTCAah I'm now done with the update. And man, it STILL ends on a cliffhanger. Admittedly not as bad as the end of Step 3, but still! But that doesn't mean it wasn't awesome, cause it was! It's interesting because I still can see that I understood Baxter pretty well as a person, and his behavior doesn't surprise me or anything, but at the same time, I really didn't expect the exact way they'd be reunited (I knew it was the mariage, obviously, but the details were vague to me), and I also didn't expect how the circumstances would make it hard to try and find time to really discuss things - obviously it's due to the very tight deadline for the mariage preparations. I have to say, I really like the dynamic going on here after the more "positive" outcome of Step 3's ending. The fact there is no animosity, and clearly a sincere happiness to see each other again, but at the same time the awkwardness due to the situation and to Baxter's inabitily to deal with personal things make it so interesting. Especially with a MC such as mine, where the banter just comes out so naturally no matter what, more and more often. This is all so exciting! That aside, I didn't have any bugs or anything I believe, but in some instances "fiancé" was written "fiancÈ" - I will be replaying so I'll add the exact moments this happened a bit later.

I gasped audibly when he appeared for the first time in step 4. I'm probably overreacting, but I cried at Baxter and my mc's reunion. I can't believe I could have this kind of reaction, but I guess the emotions from the characters were palpable, so I got carried away. Thank you very much for this month's beta update, gbpatch team. I'll just be here, doodling more b-man to cope with my brainrot.. while in my pool of tears.. patiently waiting. See you next month. 💙

2023-03-25 05:55:49 +0000 UTCI had the bittersweet ending with him and despite my MC being super laid back and understanding there was one moment she was ready to slap him. She agreed to the idea of meeting up with Xavier again which he didn't seem happy about since she "would be leaving" after the wedding. If she had the option she likely would have smacked Baxter upside the head and tell him he doesn't get to decide if she and Xavier become friends or not and if Xavier was okay with it she would visit them with or without him. She did tease and bring up some past moments but never has/had the intention of pushing him. If he wished to go silent again after this she wouldn't like it, it would hurt, but she would respect his boundaries. The bakery moment however made her feel ready to throw hands. Baxter was very fortunate that wasn't an option 😂

2023-03-24 23:37:34 +0000 UTCOH MY GOD THIS WAS SO GOOD first of all, i can't tell how surprised and happy i was to see how long this beta was. every time i thought it was over it would just keep going ?? so thanks to you and your team for this unfathomable amount of work ! next : oh my god this reunion was everything i hoped for. i had the ""bad"" step 3 ending, and i really love the fact that my character's dynamic with baxter was completely different from the one you can have with the other LIs, even (or especially) if that means things are more difficult. i really got the enemies to lovers i always dreamed of lol, and to be honest i really had fun with the drama and tension between my MC and baxter, because it made the slow burn way more satisfying. seeing them both slowly open up to each other again was so amazingly compelling, i really felt the evolution in their relationship and it was really great. i also really love the fact that we're able to explore baxter's insecurities even more than during step 3. i think he's the our life's character i can relate the most to, and it feels so bittersweet to recognize myself in what he's saying lol. i just want to hug him and be able to tell him i'll love him unconditionally, please TT btw, he keeps eluding to his relationship with his parents, so i wonder if we'll ever bring that subject up at some point ? ah and also, i love love LOVE the fact that we're retracing all the step 3 moments (the bowling, the crafts store, the ice cream, the late-night baking) all over again, it really feels like we're closing this page in the best way possible. i predicted the cake thing would happen, so i wonder if we're going to go to the mountains again ? baxter DID mention he would love this S/O to surprise him with a little vacation so... anyway i still have a lot to say but i already talked way to much lol. all this to say that this was an incredible beta, there's not much time before the actual dlc is out and i can't wait to play this all over again with the finished piece. thank you so much for all your incredible work !! <3
