It's the great debate. Is Halloween about frights or delights?

qiu “You might be kinda creepy, [first_name], but mine’s the scarier costume.”

if contesting:

“How dare he!”

if mc not scary costume:

qiu “I’m the only one who’s even trying to be scary here.”

tam “So? Halloween is fun! Everybody is pretending. Nothing’s scary.”

qiu “What? Come on, Halloween isn’t Halloween if nobody is trying to be scary, and no one is getting scared by them.” 

tam “Are you scared?” 

qiu “No. But I’m somebody who scares other people.” 

tam “Then we’re the same. I’m not scared either.”

“Tamarack casually swung her arms side to side. Her bag and Santa hat flopped around. The goofiness of that sight made a lot of her point for her.”

qiu “I’m not sure Tamarack. It might be more frightening than you thiiiink. There’s a lot about Golden Grove you don’t know about.” 

“Qiu “ooooo”ed mysteriously and wiggled a bare hand at Tamarack. He’d left his gloves out of this look, despite the night being full of chills.”

“And not just the kind of creepiness Qiu was warning Tamarack about. It was cold out here!”

“Perhaps he was worried a bringer of death in fingerless gloves might’ve gone from ghoulish to coolish. And, as Qiu had said, his goal was to spook.”

“Either way, Tamarack glared at Qiu, unafraid of his costume or his challenge. Which was good ‘cause then she would’ve lost already.” 

“It was a battle between Santa Claus and the grim reaper; a confrontation of pure good vs. true evil.”

qiu “Probably.”

-““I don’t want to be scared. Don’t do anything creepy.””:

-““Can’t we just have a good, normal time trick-or-treating?””:

tam “No.”

-““Good luck, you two.””:

qiu “Thanks!”

tam “Yeah thanks, but only one of us can be lucky.”

-“You raised your hand, not wanting to be left out.”:

-“You scoffed at the idea of finding anything scary.”:

-“You snickered. Trying to scare someone might be fun.”:

-“You could only imagine who’d be victorious.”:

-“You bet Tamarack was gonna win that game.”:

-“Qiu was gonna find some way to beat her.”:

-“They were both ridiculous.”:

-“You sighed. Why did those two always have to compete?”:

-“You shivered, worried about what would happen to them and if you’d end up in the crossfire.” if close:
