There was a very odd bug that caused an error if you tried to load a save file on a page that didn't have every save slot filled out. We're sorry that happened. I've updated the main download files with new builds and will update the mirrors when things finish uploading.

Hey!
It's late, but we've got a beta build ready 🥳️.
I want the public demo to have more Step 2 content before the full game launches, so we took a break from programming Step 1 stuff in order to add more of the teenage prologue! Part 1 of Day 1 for the Step 2 Prologue has been added. The current preview that's been in the beta and the demo for a long time is Part 1 of Day 2. So, the scenes you can play now are actually set before those scenes that came out first, haha.
Only Tamarack's Step 2 intro scene is included in this build, choosing to go see Qiu will end the beta early. Also, there is a scene that uses an incomplete CG image.

No Information in the beta can be shared publicly.
Screenshots can't be posted, videos can't be uploaded, even discussing what occurs in the events publicly is not allowed and will get your access to future builds revoked.
You can do all of those things within the private GB Patch Discord server or leave your feedback as a comment.

And since we've had some problems in the past with so many people downloading beta builds that they get locked out by Google Drive, I've uploaded mirror builds! If the first ones listed don't work, you can try these.

Or you can bypass the quota by logging in to a Google Drive account, then on the file's download page, click "Add shortcut to Drive" in the upper right corner. Save it to your Drive, then create a new folder, put it inside, and download the folder!
Save files from the prior beta should work in this beta!

2024-10-08 02:13:11 +0000 UTChmmm i only made one save and was playing the halloween moment and saved during the middle. after finishing the moment it just says thank you and loads me back into the save in the middle of the halloween moment. i can’t play the step 2 prologue now as im basically stuck in the halloween moment :/

I don't remember if the summary of the previous month or another post mentioned if there was a specific date in October. Once again, I'm just really excited not trying to push it to come out early, I can wait obviously, I was just curious if there was a possible known day for it, but if not/can't be said it's ok and I'm sorry if it came off as me rushing it.

2024-10-04 22:50:11 +0000 UTCI had a weird issue- the first time playing through the step 2 intro I got to the bit with coming out to Opal, and my MC laid out their pronouns and name. But I realised I'd messed something up and reloaded a save, and every time I tried after that my MC only said they'd chosen a name despite me changing pronouns as well. It's probably a small thing? But I have absolutely no idea what caused it. Anyway- otherwise it was a lovely update! I told myself I wasn't going to check out a beta for another couple of months but I'm glad I did this time- and I'm glad there's the option for coming out!

2024-10-01 03:15:25 +0000 UTCAh strange it cuts off immediately for me both a) if I choose to go to Qiu's house first before Tamarack's or b) when I go to Tamarack's house and do the whole convo bit with the phone and her grandpa, and then when I leave it ends the preview. :\c Probably a bug because I pasted the new stuff over top of my old file? I'll try a completely new playthrough and see how it works out, and let you know if you like.

It's still based off our decisions through the game, so we are always shaping how they will look like, just less directly than actually changing their appearance.

2024-09-29 16:02:13 +0000 UTCThe update was a treat! I love Step 2 content so much! I had a few bugs here and there too - or well, rather coding errors. Some of them are in old content (had to restart a playthrough as I changed computers) and some are in the new Step 2. - When I start the first moment of Step 1, it says this is one of the two days there's no school at all, followed by "That was too bad. You were excited for Monday already!" - my MC doesn't like school. The only time I picked for him to express more positive emotions was to trust his mom and try to approach the first day positively, but all interactions in school itself had him unhappy too and he was glad to be out and so on, so the initial bad opinion didn't change. In my previous playthroughs before I had to restart, my MC's feelings about school were properly reflected here. - I still have the error from last time in the Trick or Treat moment with my MC thinking "Another reason Golden Grove was stinky" despite his opinion on the town changing to "it's normal" during Wheels. Though it may be because you worked on Step 2 instead? - I changed the way my MC adresses his mother from "mama" (in Step 1) to "mom" (in Step 2), but it still says "Your mama wasn't especially sporty herself" by the beginning of Step 2. The same error is present in the choice to determine our new relationship with her - it says "Your mama didn't get you" (all other options are correct) - Tamarack's grandma comments on how she told Opal the MC is a kind kid and what not. But I've picked for my MC to be spunky and a rule breaker now (with the "You wouldn't let anyone tell you what to do again" option if it matters), so it doesn't make much sense.

My sister was more into hugging those who are close to her, esp. when she was upset/worried, while I was more reluctant to coming into contact with others when we were growing up.

2024-09-28 14:17:16 +0000 UTCFrom memory, the hairsyles and accessories of the step 2 preview that's available publicly are random at the moment, not sure with the update since I haven't played it yet, but I do rmbr Kab mentioning at one point that the hair and accessories were randomised for the time being. I assume as more of Step 2 is programmed, there'll be more of the hair+accessories being based on choices

2024-09-27 23:25:26 +0000 UTCI am just assuming that whatever Qiu and Tamarack will end up looking like based on the decisions from Step 1 will be defaulted when we get to their customization screens. That way you can choose how their hair looks/what they have on accessory wise or just let them be. However it is handled, though, we can definitely let the game decide how Qiu and Tamarack end up looking. It should be just the same as Cove.
