OL2: Step 2 Prologue Script Preview (Continued)

When I shared the last text preview, a lot of people were curious about what would happen if you didn't get someone if your homeroom, and how things would change if the characters were jealous. So, here's the rest of the alterations! It took two more images to cover it all.

Pure Text:

“Homeroom Teacher: Mr. Murray, Room 28. Another Murray class. That hadn’t happened since fifth grade.”

“And it was a true “Murray”, not some other random guy with the same last name as the Mrs. Murray you knew. The only teacher Murrays in Golden Grove were a married couple with two kids.”

“You’d managed to get both before your standard education ended. Some people in town said that was good luck, others… didn’t. Some would wish you the very best in your time of hardship.”

if not silent:

mc “It’s Mr. Murray.”

if silent:

“You turned your paper towards Qiu to show them.”

qiu “Mr. Murray? I have Ms. Severson.” 

if close:

“They buried their face into the traitorous schedule sheet. Maybe Qiu thought they could rearrange ink letters if they pushed hard enough.”

qiu “BS.”

 if neighbors:

“They tapped the edge of the schedule sheet against their chin. Qiu was a school scientist, getting info objectively, without emotional reaction.”

qiu “Hm.”

“Tamarack pushed herself to keep up, speaking over the din.”

random- tam not in homeroom:

tam “Nooo! [first_name]!”

tam “I’m in Ms. Severson’s homeroom!”

“She double and triple checked. Was there anyway Mr. Murray could be misspelled into Ms. Severson?”

if neighbors:

“She smiled with a shrug. That was one piece of awkwardness avoided.”

qiu “Wait-”

tam “That means-”

“It hit your friends at the same moment. Somehow, out of all the possible combinations, you’d ended up in a homeroom by yourself while Qiu and Tamarack had been put together.”

qiu “Who decided this schedule?!”

tam “This is so unfair!”

qiu “Okay. Now they’re just being blatant.[ Try not to complain to the school board, Tamarack. I can’t help it.]” #if tam close

qiu “We’re roommates again.”

“Tamarack’s own schedule creaked in her grip. If pushed anymore, the stack would rip in half!”

tam “This is so unfair.”

“She looked about ready to quit this whole “education thing” on the spot.”

tam “I won’t.”

tam “It’s sad we’re not in homeroom together, [first_name]. We’ve gotta have something, right?! More than just lunch.”

tam “This is perfect! Really, it’s perfect. I think I’m looking forward to school a little.”

“She could not have described a homeroom with you and without Qiu as ideal any more clearly. Tamarack wasn’t even ashamed to say it with them right there.”

tam “Well, I guess I shouldn’t be too mean to the school. It could’ve been a lot worse.”

qiu “BS. What have I done to deserve this, Murrays?”

“They were about ready to begin a generations-long feud with their former family friends.”

qiu “Guess it’s not gonna matter if I skip homeroom.”

“They gave a little smirk, just to make you wonder if they were joking or not.”
