I think 2 sounds more realistic, 1 sounds more pleasing though because it sounds wider and spacious but definitely 2 for realistic listening perspective.

Number 1 seems more natural to me, mainly with crisper treble. There's some sort of treble roll-off in number 2 which emphasizes some mids a little bit. Not very different, but still different. I used a pair of Jabra Elite 65t for listening.

1 sounds more realistic, 2 has this strange tunnel -effect for the background noise. Listening with a pair of AKG Y50, because my go-to HD600's broke down a couple of weeks ago.

1 sound more natural, even though high frequencies seem a little bit harsh (piercing). 2 sounds a little bit muffled, for the wind and for example when the dogs where running in the leaves. Was listening on the Sennheiser Momentum 2 Over-Ear.

Agree. used hd600, LS200, k361. seems obvious on any headphones.

1 sounds more natural to me. 2 sounds more or less as if I toggled on Dolby Atmos on my samsung phone. But the difference is very small. I would be more comfortable giving my opinion if I could listen both versions of recording in full. ATH-M50x, ER2XR, HD600.

1 sounds little bit bright and 2 is little muffled. I prefer 1 and i think somwhere between that two setups would be great. Im using Sony MH1 Live sound without EQ

Dense Audio Adapt Reference DAC/Amp to AKG N40 earbuds. Setup 2 is more realistic in terms of brightness.

First is definitely more spacious - sound is moving in three dimensions, your dogs' paws steps in fallen foliage where scratching my ears ). Second is kind of tonally better, since first seem to have some high frequency peak and phase shift in highs. Anyway, if it's about recording live something in the real, then first should be the choice. DT770, ibasso dc02.

I have to note here that i think my left earcup (DT 770 pro) is somehow broken and delivers lower volume than the right. That said, while humans do perceive wind, we cancel it when it's more like a HUM, so it's undesirable; and there's always the chance to overcome the rest. But second track, I assume windshield off, to me is more vibrant and aery, it's more relaxed and less in the face. And i think it captures the low frequencies the best. To my ear at least.

The ones which came with the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (AKG tuned). I think you tested them in the past and liked them a lot as they came for free and sound quite natural.

1 sounds little bit too harsh in treble.

1 seemed better but still not quite there. Although 2 sounded a bit muffled some of it's elements were more perceivable than 1. Listened on ATH-M50x.

i can't make up my mind 2 sounds a little muddy than 1. But 1 sounds a little bit like it has a bit of echo (as someone has already compared it to a roll of toilet paper). All in all, I like 1 better, which is partly due to the fact that cracking the stones is more satisfying, but I can't say which one sounds more realistic. Heard with airpods (I know they don't sound really good and also have their color scheme, but I like them because they are practical for transport in my pocket and I can always take them with me, furthermore I don't really like listening with headphones, so they are enough for me)

I listened with closed eyes, trying to imagine the scenery by the sounds I was hearing, and Sample number 1 seemed a lot more convincing. Especially with the crunch of sand under your shoes..Listened on Airpods Pro.

Kph30i, might give it a listen with the DT1990 tomorrow. From what I am used to hear, 1 seems too bright and 2 too muffled. Maybe a bit less treble on 1 would be more realistic.

#2 definitely too muffled for me, some details are gone. Using laptop + radsone ES100 Mk II with EQ (slight bass reduction, mainly) + Sony MH755.

1 is a little bit too bright I think, highs on 2 are more natural to my ears.

The only think that I noticed is a hiss of the leaves from your cute dogs running ahead of you when you switched to #1 at 4:05. I think the mic #1 is a little bit too sensitive. This high frequency hiss sounds a little exaggerated to me.

Yes this is exactly what I am trying to sort out which is not easy. But think my new approach is already better than before.

I've just listened to the sample with my HD650: #1 sounds more natural to me with more details, especially in higher frequencies, #2 a little heavy in lower frequencies. But again, my headphones are considered a little dark. Actually they both sound great! The difference is not that big. For artistic effects I would say it depends, for objectivity I would prefer #1.

I think 1 sounds more realistic, but its still not 100% there. There's a hint of the kind of sound you get when you hear things through a tube like from a roll of toilet paper or something, particularly with the sound of the leaves. Wind was a bit distracting at the beginning, but was not too bad later on. Listening from: Topping D10 --> THX AAA 789 --> Focal Clear (with & without oratory1990 harman target eq)

By the way is it recomendable like if i want to percieve some real perpective of what you are recording to purchase some reference ones or can continue with these one because even though having this colouration they still have great defenition i would say.

the 2 nd audio recording seemed more realistic to me, although 1 still being clearer(ambient sound was more heareable here) so either one or the order sound good their own ways, big advantage on 2 is less heareable hiss tho. The headpones i am using are the tribit xfree tune, 2nd edition ones(they changed the grill and build quality i guess), not the best ofc lots of bass and treble, even though now i use with your eq of your old review on the apo eq(making the sound a bit more neutral).

At around 00:30 there is a clear change were Eq 1 sounds more sparkly and lively and Eq 2 sounds muffled. to my ears and with my headphone (HE4XX) directly connected to my laptop (Latidude 7470), I believe Eq 1 sounds more realistic might be a bit on the bright side but this also depends on my headphones, laptop, the fact that your shoes and how much you weight and how damp the tree's leaves etc etc are also affecting this.

1 sounds more clear and seems to give more background detail. Im not sure if that is also more realistic but i like it better. Its nice to have the dogs there. They also help with judging the sound. Im not sure about the wind noise. It doesnt seem completely realistic because in some parts i get a slight pressure in my ears that i dont get irl. Listened with er2se and hd600.

I use indeed the H1 (old model). I have the A10 as well but I the difference between both regarding noise is minimal. Maybe only hearable with the most expensive capsules. The advantage of the H1 that it has a slow bass roll off and therefore I can still record the noise when I put on headphones in my videos while with the A10 it would distort earlier as there is still way too low frequency energy in the recording. I would need to record at a much lower gain but then pulling it up again in post will increase hiss even more than on the H1. I had the Tascam DR100 which I also had distorted even at lowest gain setting regardless of setting for Limiter etc. Therefore I am still sticking with my H1 but use the A10 for more high quality recordings. I bought the A10 used not long ago as I hoped it would improve my sound quality but it didn’t.

The mics don’t matter as long as they are noise free. The real work is the correct Eq. I liked the Soundprofessionals but all units I had broke. The custom built ones I am using now are more reliable •fingers crossed*

What audio recorded do you use btw? MixPre 3 II is praised all over the net, but it is very expensive for me. I wonder if the improvement would be worth it over the sony PCM A10 that I use now. Probably would have to pair it with extremely expensive mics as well to make a difference (DPA 4560 maybe)

very close. There is one switch at 0:37 where the difference sounded most clear to me, with 1 having a more bright EQ, which I preferred. Also 2 seemed more sensitive to wind noise. I am doing binaural recording myself, inspired by your earlier videos. Oscillating between SoundProfessionals and micboosters (Primo 272). They both are super ok for my standards.
