News - Health Issue Update #1
Added 2021-04-28 16:23:07 +0000 UTCHi.
Firstly, thank you for the messages and kind wishes. I really appreciate them and am extremely grateful to you.
I've just returned from having my leg scanned and, unfortunately, it was inconclusive. Top of the leg is clear of clots but too much fluid in the lower leg for the ultrasound, apparently.
The plan now is to stop taking the drugs they gave me to treat the clot and allow any clot that might be present to grow further up the leg(!). Then go for a repeat scan next Wednesday when they hope they will be able to detect it, if it is indeed a clot.
This sounds like a terrible plan to me! It means another week of uncertainty and worry. But, I'm going to get back to work and try not to think about it.
Thanks again, and sorry about all of this.

2021-04-29 01:39:33 +0000 UTCI agree, DB. That's sounds like a terrible plan for diagnosis. I don't know healthcare works in the UK, but I would try to get a second opinion asap. I lost a co-worker to a blood clot in the leg that broke loose and traveled to his brain. He was dead in minutes. As others have said, please make your health and well being top priority. The game can wait. Be well, my friend.

2021-04-28 20:52:23 +0000 UTCI suck at this so here goes... Take care of your health first ...fuck the game. I dont need to add you to the list of fallen developers we lost to health problems. So get well and I am far from a doctor but I hope they checked for MRSA as well as the clot. I lost an uncle to a swollen leg turned out he had mrsa but he was at the shitty Vet affairs hospital in Milwaukee.

2021-04-28 20:36:47 +0000 UTCFocus on your health, I think we all agree that is far more important than any game. For the record, might be time for a second opinion.

2021-04-28 18:55:41 +0000 UTCPlease focus on you and your health. I'm sorry to hear about the diagnosis and the continuing uncertainty. I hope that your body resolves things positively and quickly, removing the doctor's wait and see attitude from your consideration.

2021-04-28 18:28:21 +0000 UTC"Hmmm, we're not sure if it's a heart attack. Go run around the block a few times and see if you develop shortness of breath." That does seem like a terrible plan. I suppose the good news is that they're not worried about it being life-threatening (or else they'd have had you do the sit around for a week thing from the hospital). I hope it breaks up / goes away on it's own, but regardless, take care of yourself. If worry makes it hard to concentrate, then don't - use this time to play around. For instance, make someone's skin green, give them a tail or send MC to space.

2021-04-28 17:59:35 +0000 UTCThat must be so frustrating, being 'sent home' like that. If working on the game helps keeping your mind off things, that's fine, but if you need to spend time another way, do that instead. Your health is obviously more important than the game, just as others have said. Hoping for a quick recovery.
