I hope that Charlotte's Emma, being curious, finds a picture of the MC's Emma when she searches his room trying to learn more about him and that this prompts the discussion he needs to have with both Charlotte and Emma about his past. I think that this discussion would bring Charlotte and her Emma much closer to the MC!
