Status report

In December 2020 I said I planned to complete Paradise Found before 2021 was over. I still think I will make that happen, but things are a little different now. 

Since December 2020 I have decided to reduce the amount of time spent working on the game, allowing for more rest to avoid getting burned out and making the game development be about having fun again. This has worked out great so far. During February, I only worked when I felt like it, not because I felt I had to to meet a deadline or to avoid disappointing my patrons. And still it added up to a decent amount. 

Because I still want to finish the game in 2021 even with potentially spending less time working on it, I have decided to focus on the characters whose storylines are the furthest away from being finished, until all characters are roughly the same distance away from the imagined ending. I already feel envigorated and relieved when realizing that I will soon start seeing the finish line in the distance for all characters. Previously that was not the case, and that was a mental burden.

During February, I have been working on Kyra (oldest daughter). I am close to finished with her content for v0.11. I had a few big hurdles to get past in her story. Now I have passed a couple of those hurdles, and mapped out the rest of her story in a way that makes me feel confident I will be able to finish it in 2021 without it feeling rushed. 

Next I will work on Jane (landlady). I will also work on the therapist and probably Julia (nurse). Depending on how fast I get their stories to where I want it, I might add some content for one or two other girls too in v0.11, but that's a maybe. 

I won't mention any dates, or even months, because then I would feel I have announced a deadline and that is exactly the kind of pressure I want to avoid. But I have a rough release date for v0.11 in my head that I want to aim for.

About the monthly billing and my thoughts of suspending payments until after I release v0.11. I didn't really consider that having Charge Up Front enabled complicates things if I release v0.11 close to the end of a month. Then some people might end up getting charged twice within a few days without realizing it. For this reason, I might make a decision to turn on monthly payments if I know I am very close to releasing v0.11 at the end of a month, and then instead release v0.11 early the following month.
