I really related to Sam’s rant on College. I, like many others fell victim to parents forcing their children to get into university. At my age you couldn’t really say no to grown ups, who appeared to have all the answers, telling you to do something that would better your life. Well what we believed would. Instead I went into it not knowing what I wanted and just picking law enforcement because it sounded cool. This resulted in terrible GPA, burned bridges with teachers who expected me to do well, and extremely disappointed family members. Today I work at a sheriffs office and still don’t know what I want to do. I’m a home owner and live with a girl I will probably marry. I’m making a decent-ish living, but really wish I was making more. I don’t really have much motivation to do new things or explore the world. I’d rather just sit inside my house all day browsing the web and playing video games. I’m not sure if going out there constantly to see new things will spark my passion, but I suppose taking Sam’s advice and giving it an honest try won’t be the worst thing I’ve done even if I’m not optimistic about it. I guess I’ll update my progress or something after we dive deeper into 2020. Sorry for the essay post, it was more for me than for you.
