Matterotica Newsletter #38

Hi to all my lovely patrons, and a big hello to the recent new members. Whether you're here for Kingswood, the Humiliation Games or Daring Kai, I hope you enjoy what I'm posting. Below is a brief update on what's going on in the world of Matterotica.

The Kingswood Saga

Just as a general note, having recently discussed word counts with a fellow author it has come to my attention just how colossal this story has ended up. Just counting the first four books, plus their related bonus stories, the saga already reaches a massive 2.3 MILLION words! To put that in context, the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy is only 480K words.

I always knew going into it that it would be a big project, but this has exceeded even my imagination, and there's still three more books to go! Your ongoing support and love for the series is truly wonderful and I just wanted to say thank you. I hope you continue to enjoy the series right up to its eventual conclusion!

The Kingswood Complication & A Kingswood Family Christmas

For those who are quick off the mark, you will know that chapter 20 has posted and will be the last chapter for a little while. This is because the next seeven weeks I will be posting the book 4 bonus story, titled A Kingswood Family Christmas. The regular series will pick up with chapter 21 in eight weeks and get right back into the drama!

In the meantime, I really hope you enjopy A Kingswood Family Christmas (which I am avoiding abbreviating, because I don't want to sound like I'm promoting a certain fried chicken establishment lol). Technically this bonus tale continues a lot of the story threads from book 4, but I have differentiated it with something that allowed me to explore other possibilities with the characters. I don't want to give any spoilers, but I'm really hopeful you'll like what I've done with it. A Kingswood Family Christmas Part 1 will post Friday 11 October.

The Kingswood Amelioration (Book 5)

As expected, work has slowed down on this due to the time commitments of The Humiliation Games 2. This isn't necesssarily a bad thing, as I work best with a couple of projects on the go. As stated in previous updates, this book has continued to be much more of an exploration into regular teen life at the school. There's still shocks and twists, but it definitely takes a much subtler approach that allows for some really wonderful character interactions.

As mentioned in a recent comment on one of the chapters, Mikey has found himself in yet another pairing and continues to shine once again. Considering how heavily the story focuses on other characters, it's wonderful to have Mikey still be able to stand out from the crowd.

Again, no spoilers, but despite the dramas and drawbacks, the book is really living up to its title!

The Humiliation Games 2

Okay, writing my 'interactive' stories are usually stressful in a fun way, as they mean I have very strict deadlines and can't really prepare too much in advance, but this one has decided to add the bad kind of stress! Unfortunately as you will have seen from posts and DMs, I'm having a few issues with it posting. Thankfully, the password-protected PDF solution seems to have worked and I'd like to thank you all for your flexibility in adapting to it.

Technical issues aside, I'm definiotely having fun exploring a new round of humiliations. The addition of the 'in-studio' humiliations in the voting chapters hopefully helps keep the momentum going, plus who doesn't love embarrassed naked waiters, right!?

Thanks to everyone who is voting, reading and/or commenting. The interactive stories wouldn't be what they are without you and I'm happy to see so many of you enjoying it. New chapters will continue posting every Sunday and Tuesday!

Daring Kai

Now that Daring Kai has fully finished posting on here, I have started posting it onto Nifty (because even running this page, Nifty is still home to my writing and will always have my support!) Based on viewing figures, it's looking like it could be one of my most popular stories ever, so thank you all for your feedback throughout it. It may not have been one of my interactive stories, but your feedback always helps shape what I write!

Additionally, thanks to an eagle-eyed reader who actually read my opening note, I have finally identified the story that inspired the original idea. I don't want to link the page directly from here, but it's called The Dare Game by an author called Edwap and can be found on a site called puericil. Searching it on google doesn't actually bring it up, but search it on bing (yes, other search engines exist!) and it shows up, if you want to check it out. I don't even remember much about it, but if it inspired me to write a full novel, it's gotta be pretty good :)

Future Projects

Although I clearly have a lot going on, as above, I'm already planning ahead to what's next! The Kingswood Saga isn't slowing down, and will continue right up to the planned end at the conclusion of book 7, but what's next after The Humiliation Games 2?

The way I see it, I have a few options:

• another 'anthology' type interactive story, like the Humiliation Games with a series of short stories you would vote on

• a new 'ongoing' interactive story, like Phil's Naked Adventure, which follows a single narrative with voting to determine what happens next, likely with pretty short chapters of 1-2K words

• a new regular story, like Daring Kai, sticking with the shorter chapters of around 4K words

• random one-shot stories for a while, maybe with the occasional 2 or 3 part story, allowing for exploration of different ideas and characters

• additional Kingswood content, like short stories focusing on background characters, staff members or the school's past

It's not somthing I'm putting as a poll, because ultimately I'll do what feels right at the time, but feel free to share your thoughts and/or preferences. The point of having this page is to interact with you guys, so I figured why not hear your thoughts!
