Bonus Content - The World of Kingswood

I often make content to help me visualise the world I'm creating. In this case, I wanted to get an image of where things are within the UK.

Disclaimer - I am SO bad with geography. If anything is in the wrong place on the map, then I apologise, I tried my best :)

Attached is a map of the UK showing the approximate locations of the eight schools that make up the Southern Counties Inter-School Partnership Scheme (SCIPS) as well as the family homes of the main characters. It's not a great map, but it does the job!

Just for anyone visually-impaired, here's a full text list of locations:

I made a decision fairly early on not to really show their accents in the writing, partly for that reason. The closest we really get is Chris and some of his family members using 'feck' or a few more regional insults.

I suspect I might have trouble with the regional accents of Mikey from Newcastle or James from somewhere in Wales -- it's bad enough when I watch TV series like George Gently or Vera and can't understand some of what is being said.

Thanks, glad you've found it helpful. The sections shown on the maps would be counties, although I think the map is slightly outdated as some of them may have changed (I'm sure 'The West Midlands' is now an actual county, and is the area Gray lives, but I'm not sure!) I haven't specifically planned home locations for most of the other characters. The ones on the map are mostly just the ones I have felt the need to specify. I have to be careful not to get carried away. I already do so much prep/planning for the books with lists of students, their dorms, their subjects/clubs etc. I can't go planning anymore unnecessary detail or I'll never get round to actually writing the story lol

I love having this. Other than knowing approx where Chris lived (I do know where Ireland is), figuring out the rest of the locations is not easy for this old American. Of course I know London, but other than taking a train to Scotland and a trip to Windsor, I have know clue about British geography. What do you call Dorset, would that be the equivalent of a “state” in the U.S.? Where would Bryan show up on the map? Or maybe some of the other “key” mentors? Really interesting, not just for understanding this story, but hell gives me a nice geography lesson for the U.K.
