The Kingswood Complication - Chapter 38

That's an astute observation about Avery's parents, one that Avery himself has surely missed. This is another one of those situations that is going to take some time to play out, but it's going to be bubbling away in the background for a while. Not quite a 'Locky' level mystery, but definitely an ongoing plot point. Both Nicky and Locky share the trait of portraying a very different persona to most of the world while keeping their true selves hidden. For Gray it's his confidence and bravado and for Nicky it's humour. It's nice to see them both letting each other in though. Mikey narrating is definitely interesting. He has a definite level of self-awareness about it, and does use it playfully on occasion, but even he is aware that it can also by a symptom, but it's all part of his journey now. Rob has always struggled with negative emotions and is often his own worst enemy. He also has a tendency to misplace his anger and hate. In this case, while David definitely did something wrong, he seems to have just became an easy outlet for Rob's many other negative feelings. Let's see how bad it gets... Josh really is an incredible painter. It just disappoints me that I'm not a good enough artist to portray his work visually, but it's certainly something he has a huge talent for, especially now he has really started channeling his heart and soul into his work. The scene with the teachers likely seemed a tad gratuitous, but when Danny is involved, sex is really its own language. Its how he handles things, both good and bad, while Chris occasionally does the same. What will come of this? Who knows, but at least Danny's enjoying it :) David also has a long way to go, but thankfully his friends have shown time and time again the compassion they have.

2025-04-13 10:03:26 +0000 UTCThat's okay, I'm behind on replying! lol Mikey really is a wonderful little character. He's very sweet with Harley, although I've always seen Harley more just as a friend for him, someone outside of the immediate group of characters who has managed to see through his gruff exterior and get close to him, showing it can be done. Either way, a long way to go yet and who knows what might happen

2025-04-13 10:02:57 +0000 UTCSorry, behind on reading - life just got in the way. Since all the comments I would have made have already been made, I think I will stick to something simple. I freaking love Mikey so much these last few chapters! He's always been adorable, but now - he's absolutely majorly boyfriend material. I think I'd like to see him with Harley, who has always been a decent guy. It seems Harley might like him a little more strongly than Mikey realizes, at least to my way of thinking.

2025-03-30 01:22:05 +0000 UTCWhere to begin? Good to get some insight into Avery's issues. A remarkable coincidence that Avery's older brother, whom he never met, was also named Danny. Note that Avery's parents must have some level of esteem for him since they're shelling out the moolah to send him to Kingswood. I wonder if there is some way for word to get to them that they need to tone down their reminiscences of their lost son. They need to focus on the son they actually have, rather than the one who is no longer around. We don't know how the earlier son died, but I'm suspicious that it was under circumstances that cause the parents a significant amount of guilt. Gray and Nicky are inching toward connection at an agonizingly slow pace. I have some trouble relating to their issues, but I'm awfully glad they seem to be attempting to bridge them and overcome their self-imposed barriers. Let's hope their micro-baby-steps lead somewhere productive. It was actually quite entertaining to have Mikey narrating things again. I hope (and assume) that this is something he can now control, and doesn't reflect any kind of backsliding. Rob seems headed for a serious mental break. He doesn't seem to have a Mr. Rudd to look after him, as was the case with Danny. And of course Mr. Rudd doesn't know much about what's going on (or so he claims). Rob's treatment of David's apology was cruel, but seems to reflect Rob's hitting the depths of frustration and fury more than specific anger at David. Will matters reach the point that Rob cannot continue at Kingswood? Excellent that Josh was able to visit the art competition showings. That must have been some painting he created. The scene with the two teachers getting together under Chris and Danny's direction was definitely over the top. Will they find out each other's identities? (I think even with blindfolds it would be hard to conceal.) Will Chris's matchmaking lead somewhere? Finally, will David's attempts at expiation be successful? Will he and James patch things up?
