I think the thing I like about Danny is that he is an absolutely devoted boyfriend, but also continues to be an independent person. So many people stop being that when they enter a relationship and just become nothing more than 'half of a couple'. That's not Danny. I agree for Mark's answer, it's very appropriate. As for James's burger opinion, this one of those moments of self-insertion as that's very much my feelings on the issue.

And yeah, James isn't in the dorm but he's still one of the group, though he doesn't have long left at Kingswood... I'm happy to hear my stories can help. Loss of a loved one is so challenging and never really gets easier. Nice to have you here as always 😊

2025-11-24 08:36:21 +0000 UTCThanks, it's nice to see which parts stood out for you. I really like exercises like this as they can give readers a good insight into little details that don't feature in the story, while helping me to get into their mindset. Ultimately, their drink of choice makes no difference to anything, but I like knowing the sorts of choices they make 😊

2025-11-24 08:34:27 +0000 UTCFunny that Danny's answers have NOTHING about Chris. I also vote for the "priceless answer" to this: "My parents’ graves. They just need to hurry up and get in them!" It's sad, but yeah, they deserve this for how they treat their amazing son! And I agree with James about burgers!!

2025-11-23 23:59:51 +0000 UTCI'm a couple of chapters behind on my reading. Home stuff just occupying way too much time lately. Never fear, I plan to catch up later this week. I always love these little glimpses into our boys' minds. I hope we get those for the next year's as well. One for The Lads would be great, perhaps when they have reached Year 10. I'm so glad Gray and James were included. I love Mark, but I will always think of James as one of our boys. Davide's comment on Nicky's statement about moving on is so true. That sentence resonates with me as well, having lost my mom earlier in the year. I think we have all probably seen things in this story that have helped us or brought up memories we'd forgotten. Looking forward to getting caught up again.

2025-11-23 22:59:38 +0000 UTCThis was priceless: 4. Where have you always wanted to visit? My parents’ graves. They just need to hurry up and get in them!

2025-11-23 22:31:49 +0000 UTCI figured I'd mention the thing that stood out the most for me from each guy's answers. Some are lighthearted, others are serious, it's a mix. Chris having three different answers for one hour alone over the years is a good example of how these characters have changed, even though this one is just a small thing. Danny managed to make two answers be about sex, because of course he did, and wanting to go to Folsom Street Fair is most Danny answer. David's advice to their younger self shows us how much they probably struggled internally in the process of figuring out they're nonbinary. Gray's "You’re two years early! Go home!" gave me the biggest chuckle out of all these answers. James's very specifics expectations of what a burger should be like to not fail at being a burger is a great illustration of one part of his personality. Josh's reply to the advice he'd give his younger self being jokes about his past problems is his typical humour, but it also feels like a coping mechanism. Mark saying "because seeing someone hurt or sick and not being able to help is a horrible feeling" hits because you know he's thinking of Josh's cancer. Mikey mentions the Covid lockdown with Nicky and I like that the story still brings up moments from several books ago, they don't get forgotten. Nicky's "Moving on doesn’t mean forgetting." reply is a simple sentence, but is so important for him, coming from years of trying to deal with Matt's death. Rob realizing he should talk to people about what bothers him, instead of bottling it, is good, but he doesn't need to be that harsh on himself.
