This fight finally made him feel even remotely close to being on Goku’s level. Also I completely agree, this is a small-scale proto version of what the franchise becomes

2025-02-12 17:53:40 +0000 UTCKrillin vs Chiaotzu is a fight that easily gets overlooked (since it's sandwiched in between Yamcha vs Tien and all the incredible fights yet to come in the tournament) but I'd argue it's probably one of the most important fights in the whole show. This is the first fight in the series that includes energy attacks being used as regular attacks instead of just big finishing moves, and more importantly flight. Two things that will eventually become staples of the series, especially in Z. This fight essentially marks the beginning of the transition from the DB to the DBZ style of fighting.
