Puck 433 - Alternate Joke
Added 2018-03-13 02:30:20 +0000 UTCSo here was my first draft of strip #433 where I took a shot at another one of my favorite targets: Rob Liefeld. I kinda love the guy, even though I also love to make Liefeld jokes too. I changed it because I just didn't think enough people would really, REALLY get it outside that certain camp of people who were into comic books in the dark age that was the 90's.
For the record, he did invent Deadpool. But as Linkara once said, "You show me a beloved character created by Rob Liefeld, and I will show you the other writer or illustrator who is actually responsible for coming up with everything you love about that character."

Yeah, it's a fun style to draw in, really. It's all about crazy details and texture rather than substance, and honestly, that freedom is kind of liberating. It's not a style where you have to ask, "Does this look right?" Rather, you just ask, "Does this look COOL?" I feel like my style is generally trying for the exact opposite. I spend ages agonizing over whether things look right, but very seldom do they look cool.

2018-03-17 02:36:04 +0000 UTCA guy I knew in college once showed me a drawing he'd made of the Joker. At the time I couldn't understand why he drew him with more muscles than Schwarzenegger. It wasn't until years later that I realized he must've been emulating Liefeld.
