Puck in the Style of Blondie (Mar. 2020)

This was fun but challenging.  I pretty much had to trace the basic armature of a Blondie character in order to get the proportions right because the character design is SO extreme that my brain instinctively wants to make the head and boobs smaller and the hips bigger.  It's ... a look.

Hourglass is wonderful, but really BIG BUTTS, not my preference.

Yeah, exactly with the hips! I’m a BIG fan of an hourglass figure. This can be seen in how I draw my women and how I ... um, marry my women. Woman. I’ve only been married to one woman, but she possesses a very pronounced hourglass form, to the extent that she finds it hard to buy clothes cut for her. It turns out that most women’s clothing is cut for straighter builds and wider waists. But the Blondie build is unique because the hips are so narrow. It’s obviously SOMEONE’S thing but not mine. I do know a bit why they look like this, though. In strip comics, the head and face are the most important part of the image, and so a lot of those comics feature characters with massive heads compared to body size. But the Blondie artist also obviously was a boob man, and if you’re going to make the head huge, well...

Uh, not to sound dense, but what Captcha? Is this something on Patreon (which is out of my control) or on the actual Puck site? If it's on the Puck site, I'm VERY worried, because I enabled no such thing and that's scary that such a thing would pop into existence.

ElectricGecko

Highly Offended. (not really)

FORMAL COMPLAINT

This was the hardest style to work with because it's so particular. I think that the Blondie artists over the past half century have actually worked from character templates, kinda like cutting and pasting. The female characters all have the same features, and the features are very particular, and the facial expressions are always set in one of six or seven options, and ... yeah. It's specific. It leaves no room for deviation. So it was a challenge.

I think you nailed it. Can't be easy working in someone else's style.
