DM's Toolkit Update | Using Multi-Phase Bosses (Reference Sheet)
Added 2023-03-01 19:57:51 +0000 UTCClimactic combats with solo, powerful enemies are a staple of fantasy media, inspiring countless Dungeon Masters to emulate them in their own games. However, when it comes to using "legendary monsters" in D&D 5e, those Dungeon Masters are almost invariably disappointed, finding themselves stuck with fragile "glass cannons" that threaten to either TPK the party or crumple like wet tissue paper.
That's why I've focused on multi-phase bosses as a way to bring the solo villain experience into D&D. To that end, I've now added a new reference sheet to the DM's Toolkit explaining the background of the multi-phase boss concept, as well as additional information on balancing and designing them in practice.
The reference sheet can be found in the DM's Toolkit in the Bronze Masterpost. I hope you find it helpful!
Thank you as always for your support!
