The Five Types of D&D Gameplay Challenges (& More)
Added 2023-08-11 22:24:45 +0000 UTCHappy August! Sorry I've been a bit MIA for a while, but I'm back with a whole host of new content goodies. Today in particular, I've posted four new reference sheets to the DM's Toolkit:
- Building Gameplay Challenges, which distills and explains the five fundamental types of gameplay in D&D: combat encounters, social encounters, obstacle courses, puzzles, and skill challenges;
- Building Dynamic Boss Monsters, which walks you through the process of building a dynamic and tactical boss monster statblock, as discussed in the Doing The Monster Math devblog;
- Running Non-Player Characters, an updated version of an old reference sheet with all-new content to help you build and run vivid and memorable NPCs; and
- Skill-Based Actions, an all-new list of D&D 5e skill-based actions for use in combat encounters, skill challenges, and beyond.
As always, you can find these resources and more in the DM's Toolkit, available at the Bronze Masterpost.
I've got a whole bunch of other cool stuff coming down the pipeline (including the official public release of Act II: The Shadowed Town in Curse of Strahd: Reloaded), so stay tuned!
Cheers,
Dragna
