New Podcast: Extra Issues

In case you missed our announcement on the My Marvelous Year feed, Charlotte and I are starting a new podcast to replace the now-completed My Ultimate Year.

It's called Extra Issues and it is going to be a (shocker) monthly comic book reading club podcast!

We're going to pick a theme and then explore that theme using roughly 6 comic series/ episodes. Our first theme is going to be Superhero Subversions, and you can find the comics we're covering below. The intent is to avoid Big 2 comics in general, and use this space to explore the absolutely enormous world of comics outside of Marvel and DC. That being said, four of the five comics we're reading for our first theme are Marvel/DC adjacent, but at least at the time of their initial publishing, they were not "in continuity". But after this first theme, we'll definitely be moving away from superheroes, at least for a while. Graphic novels, manga, non-fiction, webcomics, daily newstrips comics, etc... the possibilities are endless!

We plan on putting out the show just like My Ultimate Year: at the beginning of the month on the Patreon for the $5+ tier, then on a public feed six months later. Our first ep was supposed to be out in a few days, but due to a minor cold Charlotte caught, as well as wanting to polish up the format just a bit more, we're now aiming for mid-October.

For each theme, we'll be leaving the final episode's comic series choice up to the listeners, with a poll I'll put out on the Patreon. And if you have ideas for themes to cover, please shoot me a message or comment below; we already have a big list of ideas, but we'd love to have more!

Thanks to you all for your support over the years. This has been an idea I've wanted to do ever since the beginning of MMY and I can't wait to start!
