Game Tales #1: That time I ruined Curse of Strahd!

Let me tell you about that time I ran Curse of Strahd, and it went horribly wrong!

Episode #1 of Game Tales is up on our SECOND CHANNEL! It's unlisted, since it's an episode just for you folks! In it, I sit down with Magnús, a longtime writing collaborator of mine, and someone who's been designing the PDFs on the Mystic Adept tier Patreon tier... and the main reason this campaign went horribly off the rails. And with me is also Ívar, who paints basically all of the minis we show in the Mystic Arts videos, and the man trying his best to keep this campaign alive...

If our plan holds, we'll be doing one of these podcast episodes a month! Next month; Waterdeep Dragon Heist!

Also, the audio is a bit spotty, and the focus on me is broken for the first half of the video. These are things we're going to fix in our next recording session, but this episode was too funny not to release anyway!

Before running curse of Strahd I listened to Dice Camera Action where Chris Perkins completely changes CoS even though HE WROTE IT! That gave me the confidence to make it my own. That being said it sounds like a failure cascade, starting with the Strahd not being trapped all the way up to multiple masked moody elves.

Loved this, well done gang.

I like how at 28:05 the two of you rub your faces in a shared memory of the stress and weight of fixing the campaign. … 😂😂😂. Buddies

Watching this myself I was thinking how Actual Play esque it was! It's also our first multicam production... so if nothing else, we're one step closer to being able to make an actual play... :thonk:

A great listen! Really enjoying this type of content. I wonder if this will fill the void for those who want actual play content from your channel, because it really scratches that itch for me! And in a way that we don't already have on YouTube!

This was really enjoyable to listen to and hear y'all's experience with CoS; a lot of which reminded me of my early experiences playing/DMing D&D. I've been in several CoS games myself (only one of which finished) with a fair variety of experiences from them, some which were just as disastrous as your time with the campaign. Looking forward to the next episode.
