How my birds react to tools

Someone recently asked about wanting to see my birds’ reactions to when we use power tools or loud equipment. So I thought I would share this video recently of Zip and Jinx sharing an aviary while I pressure wash the other aviary.

Comments

Yes. This is what Jamie said in a desensitization video with Zip and Zoom , that birds need to be desensitized to our daily activities , so that their reactions are tolerable for us , the humans. Your birds reactions are definitely tolerable , Jamie @birdtricks. ✌🏼 This would be the goal for my flock, esp for my quaker that shrieks even at the sight of a whole carrot. 🤦🏻‍♀️. Haha.. Thanks for this video , btw.

This video is a great example of how well your birds are desensitized. They watched you walk around the aviary with the pressure washer and then just " hung out" the rest of the time (even Zip who hasn't been with you her entire life like Jinx).

They have strong feet , I think. My quaker used to be able to hang upside down cage bar, until one day his toe got bitten by a medium size bird and now he is minus one toe nail. And since then I have never seen him hanging upside down and i recently noticed that his foot grip also weaker compared to other birds.

Blue throats rarely see the need for a perch lol. They're always "hanging". Opposite of my Camelots!

They were calm with nice puffed up head feathers , while the machine was operating, though they are hanging high on cage bar. 🫶🏼
