Happy Friday :) In this week's video, I head back to Florida to bring our CRV and the tool trailer up to North Carolina. This video was shot last week.

I wanted a Shaper Origin for years but from what I've read it can't adjust the Z axis while cutting. Meaning it's designed to just plunge and cut. That makes it not a great choice for mold making (with curves and shapes). Also some of these molds are going to be massive (made up of many layers of MDF foam) and it would be kind of nice to be able to chuck in a pice of foam/MDF and not to "hand steer" the router :)

2025-08-23 01:01:34 +0000 UTCI can recommend the Shaper Origin as a versatile CNC Table alternative. I think it fits your under the boat workshop. as it stores in a smallish container. You probably know RAN Sailing. They have cut nearly everything with a Shaper Origin and are very happy with the accuracy and results. Unfortunately the Shaper is quite expensive but for your project a perfect fit I think.
