The lower kingdoms have been at war with each other for as long as people can remember.
To the north lies the kingdom of Fring, a small nation, with an economy build almost entirely around farming. As one might expect, it population is therefore also made up almost entirely or farmers. Only a handful of nobles live in the capital city of Grung. Over the past decade, most of the farmers have been tasked to fight in the war with the kingdom of Geller, to the south. This caused a dramatic shortage of food. To make matters worse, the fringian fields have recently been lost to the kingdom of Geller.
South of the kingdom of Fring lies the kingdom of Geller. Located between its two rivals, the kingdom of Geller has always maintained a large military of well trained soldiers and veterans. In the ongoing war Geller has managed to fight off its enemies and even claim some land in the north. To the west, Geller has been less successful though, as Amther Castle proves impossible to conquer time and time again.
To the west lies the Kingdom of Ranton, by far the largest of the three, covering almost as much land as the other kingdoms combined. Ranton has always been an economic powerhouse with a large treasury and access the several port towns and villages. Many years of war have not been easy on the kingdom and many merchants decide to pass the kingdom, as not to get caught up in its political affairs. The kingdom of Ranton relies greatly on mercenaries, but lately it hasn't been able to pay them on time. Some of the mercenaries have already left, and other might soon turn on Ranton.
The lower kingdoms are slowly falling apart. Perhaps a band of adventurers can save the kingdoms? Or will they take advantage of the political situation, and seize the lands for themselves, to rule over the ashes?
