February Update
Added 2020-02-06 13:59:01 +0000 UTCJanuary is over, we're already 1/12th into 2020 and it's time for another monthly update. It's been a good first month of the year so without further ado, let's get started.
"In the old part of the city is its busiest street, the Castle Road. The street is lined with shops, taverns and inns. It does not really matter what time of day you pass through here, it's always busy. People are browsing the stalls and shops and carts are traveling to and from the market square.
In an alley you spot a man. You might have easily missed him, but you didn't. The man is staring straight at you. You feel like you need to approach him, though something is telling you that'd be a bad idea."
“The main street of Twyrif is very busy and the sides of the road lines with buildings. The houses seem to change with every block that you pass. Entering the city from the south you arrive at a small square enclosed by two tall and intimidating buildings. Walking along the main street you’ll quickly reach The Slums on your left side. To the right are the luxurious houses of South End. These houses are spacious. Going further the luxurious houses will make room for large buildings that house the government services. A bit further and you’ll have passed The Slums. Now you’ll see the old and cozy houses and shops of the Old Town district. Continuing on you’ll pass the Main Square and finally leave the city through the North Gate.”
"Along the busy Mayne street of Twyrif you'll find Myrden's Wonders, a famous potion shop also known to sell some books about magic.
As you walk into the show you are overwhelmed with a strong mixture of smells. The shop is filled with tables packed with bottles of different shapes and sizes. Each bottle is filled with an unnaturally colored liquid, some of them even glowing.
Myrden will tell you about all the different effects his potions will grand. While he is now known to be a liar, some people will tell you that he likes to exaggerate about the effects or leave out important details. Sometimes this causes nothing more than a minor inconvenience, other times is might have fatal consequences."
"As you're moving towards the town square you notice the crowd around you getting denser. Finally you reach the market square. It's not as big, but there's certainly more people than you expected. As you're checking out what the vendors have to offer you feel a push in your back. You turn around and see a couple of children running away from you. You feel in your pockets and realise your pouch is missing! Luckily you were prepared for this and you still have most of your gold hidden away. As you look up again you see a hooded man behind the crowd staring at you, but when you blink, he's gone.
You continue to stroll over the market and just when you're ready to leave you see the man again, walking towards you. Suddenly something hits your head from behind and everything starts turning. The ground slowly disappears from under you and just before you fall you see him standing over you, the hooded man."
I already have two maps in the making for this month. One of them will be the city of Mirrouse, capital of the Kingdom of Burbry. It will be a sprawling urban city and done in a different style than I usually work with. The second map is a tavern, because you can never have too many tavern maps. After that I plan on doing a blacksmith.
I had neglected my World Anvil page for a bit, but over the last month I have added a ton of new content. I have set up articles for all the major (and some minor) duchies and counties in the Kingdom of Rasfadal and the Kingdom of Burbry. Most of them are lacking actual content at the moment, but I'm planning on adding that over the next couple of weeks.
The War in the West was something that I was never sure of how it happened exactly, so I decided to go over it again, taking inspiration from the Italian Wars between 1494-1559. It has been renamed to The War of the Vale, complete with a detailed timeline.
On top of that I have added articles for the characters in the campaign that I'm running in Wordal.
As you can see, much of this is still a work in progress, and I would welcome any feedback that you might have! However, I like how things are shaping up and I'm excited to continue expanding the "wiki".
