Got a question for a real Astronaut?

You might have heard by now, that I will be attending the ESA Open day on October 6th in the Netherlands and have a media accreditation, meaning I will be given the unique oportunity to ask questions.

Among the guests are:

Are there any questions, you would like me to ask either Scott Manley, Alexander Gerst or the two apollo Astronauts Rusty Schweickart and Walt Cunningham?

If so, feel free to reply with your questions until Friday, October 4th and I will ask as many as I can! :)

Got a question for a real Astronaut?

Comments

If Starship has 100s/yr of flights with low cost per flight, might ISS astronauts commute to work a couple times per week rather than long stays? More importantly, do you think the human body could handle launch/re-entry/landing twice a week? Would it be better than long microgravity exposure?

Question for all. What kind of space missions do you take a personal interest in the most? Ie: Probes to Europa or geyser's from Encaladus. Titan etc

And 2nd: What is his opinion about starship and the refueling process in space - will it be possible to use starship as a big "space junk collector"... so, crews staying up there for half a year in a starship, being refueled and collect old satellites and stuff

Question for Alexander Gerst: What is his opinion as astronaut, how could a space industry fill the possibility of 250 000 metric tons to leo with 100 starships... in the near future

Question for Walter Cunningham – Apollo 7 Can you describe your feelings on being awarded the NASA Distinguished Service Medal forty years after flying NASA's first manned Apollo mission and to what it was like to have Neil Armstrong in attendance during the presentation? Question for Rusty Schweickart – Apollo 9 You described standing on the Lunar Module "Spider's" porch during your EVA as a metaphysical experience as you looked back at the Earth, did this change your life and how do you view living in today’s Earth after viewing it from space?

If offered the chance would you consider flying to space on a private commercial vessel? Perhaps even a trip around the moon?

I'd love an audio recording from inside a space suit on an EVA

I've always wanted to know more about what it sounds like to be in various spacecraft, especially a space suit. Obviously sound doesn't go through a vacuum, but are there motor/fan sounds? Does the fabric make noise when you move? Can you hear yourself breathing? When you grab a railing do you hear it? If you're holding a railing do you hear sounds transmitted through the station like clanking noises? If you hold a wrench and tap the station do you hear that transmitted through the suit?

Jake Brownson

Do you think space flight will be accessible to the masses during our lifetimes

How was dust mitigation address during the Apollo program and what are the consequences for future moon landings if they know
