Progress Report (Lazarus Protocol)

I've been posting bits and pieces on the Discord but then realized I have not made a post here about it in a while.

Progress is moving a bit slower than I thought it would, but I always underestimate these things. Renders go slowly, and I also keep coming up with new ideas that make the project more and more complex. 

I'm trying to focus as much as I can on the early game stuff so I can upload the first release asap, though sometimes I get inspired and get a bit ahead of myself and catch myself working on things that will not actually be needed for a bit.

One of the things that I have been working on that is important to the early game, is setting up some HDRI lighting for all my future renders. This will help ensure that Alex stays consistently lit throughout the game.


Finally, the other big thing that I have been working on, and probably the most time-consuming, outside of just waiting on things to render, is that I have been working on custom clothing textures. I wanted Alex to have some kind of uniform to wear, or at least ship assigned clothing.

The first thing I went about designing was a mission Patch. (Some story easter eggs worked in there for those who know their Ancient Greek mythology.)

Then I had to go about figuring out how I was going to attract it to the clothing. This took a lot of trial and error with the positioning, but I finally have a couple of outfits with the patch for Alex to wear.

I'm going to be spending the rest of the month waiting on renders and finishing up the code at the beginning of the game. I think the biggest challenge is going to be figuring out the menu for navigating the surveillance cameras, but I might put that off for a second release, we will see.
