Behind the Scenes ramblings... (Fred Talk?)

It's the first of a new month. It's June already. Damn, 2022 is flying by fast...

It's been a while since I've made a behind-the-scenes post here on Patreon, so here goes.

It's hard to believe that it was way back in March when I started the current comic, and it has evolved along the way into a much bigger project than I had first planned. Most of the backstory for the characters I have been writing and planning for some time, so it seemed like a simple task to convert some of that into a comic.

Part of it was inspired by the whole #MarchNeedsMoms theme that trends every year, and the, then, upcoming #Mayternity. I had a Mom character already, as I've shown in the one-page side comic here:

or from the slightly earlier design, but possibly more appreciated render here:

I had planned out a whole back story involving all 7 of the mothers of the 7 main girls in & days of Sin, but Jenifer actually shows up fairly early as a side love interest, while most of the other mothers are only just mentioned in passing, if at all, so it made sense to make the comic about her.

At first, I figured I'd write maybe a dozen or so pages leading up to her getting pregnant, then do some progression renders of her pregnant. But as the comic has gone on I'm finding more and more places to add more story to the loosely written series of events that I had written as Jenifer's backstory.

Before I had designed or created any of the characters, in writing or in 3D renders, I had created Jenifer's daughter, Eva. That was before I had even really planned out much of the plot of 7DoS, There was not even a Jenifer, or a Jessica yet. Just Eva, or as I was calling her then, Eve. Shortly after, I had created a second character, Lillith, Eve's twin sister.

Eventually, I worked out the framework for what kind of game I wanted to make, and Eve and Lillith got combined into one character, Eva Lillian Barnes, and I instead went about creating a mother(MILF) character instead. I did not want to throw away the idea of twins though, so very early on in her creation process, Jenifer had a twin sister, and Eva had an Aunt, and Twin cousins that would be introduced in the VN at some point as side characters.

Not wanting to jump ahead too quickly, as I was discovering more of the story that I wanted to tell, I realized that I already had a character that I could introduce that could already be pregnant, I just needed to make a 3D character model for her, and Penny, as we see her, was officially introduced to the world.

It's a lot of extra work designing a character, but it's been fun creating them, even some of the ones I have not bothered to even give names to.

Currently, I'm working on a new character that Jenifer will be introduced to in the next comic. I went hunting Daz's Memorial Day sale for new clothing and character assets just for her, though I'm still not %100 decide on what I'm going to do with her hair.

Anyway, I have a bunch more prep work to do before I get around to setting up the panels of the next page, so I'm going to cut things off here. Let me know if you like these kinds of posts, I'm thinking of maybe doing one at the start of each month.

My goal is to have the next comic page out Friday. I'm still kind of just winging it for scheduling page releases, I'm still just doing this in my free time after all, and new characters take a bit of work to finalize.

Thank you for coming to my Fred Talk!

*I was going to have this moved to a public post after a week, but I'll have to remove that one NSFW image first. Just an FYI if you want to save it, though I believe it is available on my Twitter.

Nice! I'll admit, I hadn't put all this together in my head canon, so it's nice to have it spelled out. The only downside to staggered releases on panels is you tend to forget faster as things progress.
