March Preview 1 (WIP)
Added 2023-02-18 02:44:40 +0000 UTCWell, I think we really got ahold of something for next month. It took some back and forth to get there but we finally have Underdark walls, gate, and towers. We actually have some more surprises coming on top of this. We can't wait to show you! But we are going to anyways....wait to show you I mean;)
I went with mid sized walls. I figure there is not a lot of siege equipment in the Underdark and also narrow passages and abysses for defense. I took a lot of cues from ancient Greece as that is a time when there was some city walls but things basically got done in the field of battle. I figure in the Underdark things can come from 6 directions and often climb over walls. I sort of see a world where walls are more a symbol of control on both sides. (as opposed to an impenetrable defense)
For folks who want to use these above ground or for other races, I think it gets the job done without getting very specific. I did work in some of the spike concept that you see in warhammer dark elves, but they are mostly used to create obstructions for siege towers, both at the base and in regard to dropping the gate. They also make it a little tougher for ladders I suppose.
Along the back of the wall are archer nests all along, under the walkway. It will also come with 3 different styles of battlements and a couple top options for the corner towers.
